Selection of McHurt Bats

The McHurt Mini Teacher’s Bat, Mini Bat, Long Bat & Padded Long Bat

Vendor: McHurt

Before I start this review, a word on McHurt in general. Founded in 2007, their mission is to bring functionally high quality kink toys at affordable prices. Based in Berlin-Tempelhof, they were the first kink shop I have ever visited back in the summer of 2008. Some of the clamps that I have bought at that visit I still used and treasure today. They have an online shop but their in-store offering is WAY bigger. They have the a very large selection of different impact toys and I personally own at least fifty different ones from them.

Their core audience is more the straight scene which is reflected in their products. In 2022 I sent them drafts for two wooden impact toys because I could not find a maker to make them for me. They refused, saying my reviews are too critical because the gay scene has higher quality expectations than the straight one. So when I talk about their toys, keep this and their name in mind: From a functional point of view, they are great and will last you a lifetime. And the prices are incredible. But to achieve this they have to cut some small corners which I gladly allow to pass considering the value you get.

Construction

All the toys I am looking at today are so called bats, also called blades. They all have a short grip section which than tapers into a narrow and long – in case of the leather ones slightly cone-shaped – impact area and a rounded tip. All toys feature a hole at the end through which a leather loop is threaded to secure the toy to your wrist and for easy storage.

The leather bats are made out of two layers of very thick and stiff bridle leather. The leather and stitching come in some “kinky” colors like black and reds. Between them sits a piece of spring steel for added sturdiness. If you hit HARD or store the toy bent, the toy can deform a bit (this often happens to me when I cramp the toys in my toy bag). Once taken out simply bend it in shape again. Both leather pieces are glued together and sown around making these toys virtually indestructible. The edges are beveled, deburred and burnished for a nice and quality feel and look. The wrist loop is a little bit more basic with a piece of soft garment leather split in the middle to form a loop.

The two-layer construction of the Leather Bats. On the Right you can see a bit of deformation which you can easily bend back into shape

The small bat is 280mm long of which about 160mm can be used for impact, depending on your palm size. The maximum width is 33mm on the small one and 48mm on the long one which has an overall length of 420mm. At least 280mm of the length can be used for hitting.

The Long Bat comes in a padded version which sadly is not available on their website (if interested, simply write them a mail). On this toy one side is completely covered with medium-firm foam and lined with smooth garment leather.

Example of the manufacturing quality „shortcomings“ like split leather loop, the uneven stitching or not oiled hole in the wooden paddle for the leather loop. All these imperfections do not impair the play properties and are just esthetic!

The (Mini) Teacher’s Bat is made out of beautiful rosewood. It has been painstakingly sanded and oiled for a smooth finish with really brings out the grain and character of the wood – except the countersunk hole for the loop which edges are not oiled. It is great that the wood is oiled instead of lacquered like on other wooden toys I know. Lacquer has the tendencies to crack and splinter off over time leaving an ugly, rough surface. Speaking of smooth, the shape and edges has been rounded very well. It almost feel like a worry stone. Cross-section of this toy is almost oval. The wrist loop is made out of leather lace which I like a lot more than the split garment leather on the bats.

The Mini Teacher’s Bat is 265mm long of which roughly 160mm can be used. At the widest point it is 45mm wide. Sadly I don’t own the Teacher’s Bat – I cannot have (and store!) ALL the toys in the world, can I? – so the length of 460mm and width of approx 50mm comes form McHurt’s website. Considering the size similarity to the Long Bat, I just assume it can be wielded like the Long Bat.

Both wood and leather need about the same level of maintenance. After play, wipe them off with a wet cloth. If body fluids have been drawn, spray them with a sanitizer. Over time, this will dry out the material. The wood can be brought back to style using a paper towel with a bit of olive oil, for the leather use the leather care of your choice (personally I use Lexol but you can ask your boot black of choice)-

Playing with the Bats

Bats are some of the most universal impact toys out there. Their thin footprint makes them the perfect choice from large areas like the ass and thighs to more delicate ones like the soles of the feet for bastonado/ falaka or the palms of your sub’s hands. Especially on the latter body areas, be careful with the intensity as the small bones in the hands and feet break easily! With a bit of practice you can precisely target the blows to the very sensitive body area where the ass cheeks transition to the thighs or the inside of the thighs. The smaller versions of the toys are great for targeted, small area impact like glans spanking, ball smacking or nipple hitting.

The rounded shape and flowing lines of the Mini Teacher’s Bat

The relatively thin impact area naturally focuses the kinetic energy on a small body area. So an equally intense blow with a bat will feel more intense than with standard paddle. For an ever more focused blow, hit with the side of the bat! This is even more important considering the material these toys are made out of. The bridle leather is very dense and stiff and the wood, well… is wood. There is little give or softness in the material so all toys are stingy. Surprisingly the rounding of the wood makes it feel smoother so it is a bit less stingy than the wooden counterparts. An exception of course is that padded side of the Long Bat. Even intense, focused blows are thuddy making it a truly universal toy.

Due to the stiffness of the material, all bats are great for tapping. The intensity can be very gradually adjusted because there is almost no flex. The Mini Bat is also good for snapping. Despite the flexibility of the leather and the spring steel you can build up tension easily. This process will deform the toy over time but you can easily bend it back in shape. Due to its rounded shape, the Mini Teacher’s Bat is not perfect for snapping. The smooth shape simply makes it hard to keep it from slipping and this building tension.

Comparing the Padded and regular version of the Long Bat

Tapping can be used for warm-up but it is a sub-optimal process. It either takes very long or once you increase intensity, you already deal out quite the intensity beyond warm-up. Unless you have to Padded Long Bat. The padded side is equally perfect for warm-up and long, intense sessions with novices or more thud-loving bottoms. The only downside for warm-up is that due to the narrow blade, it takes a bit longer to cover a large body area like the ass or thighs compared to a classic paddle. But once you switch sides, you have the flash-like sting of the firm, dense bridle leather! If you only have ONE impact toy in your toy collection, the Padded Long Bat is actually the perfect choice offering – albeit focused – thud and sting. These properties makes it a good beginner’s to to start out with so it has become my go-to gift if I want to give a novice top something to start out with.

This is also due to the easy handling. You can easily target your blows and finely tune the intensity. One drawback is that due to the shape bats are always unbalanced. They are head-heavy and overtime can tire out your wrist. Especially since due to the stiffness and the narrowness there is a bit of “blowback”. On the plus side if you keep your rhythm the toy develops momentum, bit like a flogger, making the impact easier – especially on the long ones.

Conclusion: Easy to handle and versatile impact toys for a great price!

Bastinado Special Restraints

Bastinado Special Restraints

Vendor: McHurt

Construction

The Bastinado Special Restraints are two ankle cuffs connected in the middle by sturdy stitching. Due to using stitching instead of a rivet they cannot twist. The leather of the cuff is not padded and 50mm wide. The cuffs feature an incredible ankle size range between 16cm and 28cm circumference. So they fit equally on petit ladies and big bulls. For easy handling the cuffs are closed using a roller buckle which is covered by a leather tongue so the metal does not press into the skin. Between the cuffs a 25mm wide and 26cm long belt is securely sown.

The toy comes with another connected cuff with 20mm wide leather straps closed by roller buckles. This small restraint is made for fettering the big toes together. Again, at a circumference range between 5cm and 11cm it should fit most feet. Unlike its big brother there is no belt between the cuffs.

Comparison of the Edge Finish of the Two Parts

McHurt is famous for basic yet heavy duty BDSM toys. They source their toys in Europe so no problem with Chrome-6 leather like from cheap Asian mass manufacturer or sloppy stitching. But the leather is initially stiffer than I would expect it to be and the inside of the ankle cuffs is lined with sued which edges have not been finished. That McHurt’s supplier is capable of a higher level of refinement is shown on the toe cuff which has perfectly finished edges – except for the leather tongue which underlines the buckles. All things consider at 49.80€ you get great value for your money! But just don’t expect the level of refinement you get at Mr S or Regulation/ Fetters.

Detail of the Roller Buckle

Playing with the Bastinado Special Restraints

Hitting the soles of the feet has many names: Bastinado, falaka, dǎ jiǎoxīn or foot whipping. It has an equally long tradition in Arabian, Asian and Western punishment culture. However, if you are not good with ropes, it is hard secure the feet in a way that they don’t flinch so you can deliver the blows precisely. As their name indicates, the Bastinado Special Restraints were designed just for that.

The Sued on the Inside of the Ankle Cuffs

The big cuffs are for tying the feet of the bottom together. The wide leather is perfect for distributing the strong force legs can exert evenly on the ankle so they are comfortable yet secure. Since the restraint has not padding or body but the belt is the restraint, there is little wiggle room. So with the feet tied next to each other, the soles form an even and parallel impact surface. This is basis for controlled and evenly hit impact play. But beyond this job well done, it gets a bit difficult.

The lacking level of refinement sadly also shows how cutting corners impairs the functionality of this toy. The strap between the cuffs is supposed for tying the ankle cuffs to a bar some (!) beds have as a design feature at the foot end. Most of these bars are purely ornamental so not really made for detaining struggling feet. But even if I ignore the scarcity of this design element and its common fragility – even though it is necessary for these cuffs to properly work! – the belt position doesn’t make sense! You have to twist it 90° in order tie it to a bar running perpendicularly to the cuffs. Of course, attaching it between the cuffs is cheap and still it somehow does the trick, but it is another example of lacking refinement and cutting corners due to cost.

The Inside of the Toe Cuffs

There is a similar issue on the toe cuffs. They keep the toes securely together to form an even impact area. But the bottom can still move his feet backwards and forwards. A small D-ring for attaching a tension strap to keep them from wiggling would have been great!

Do these issues make the Bastinado Special Restraints a bad toy? No! As already written, they are great value for money. You just need to invest a little bit of thinking and effort to work out the kinks.

  1. If you don’t have a bar to attach the restraints to, run tension straps though the roller buckles and laterally fetter the cuffs to the bed frame. Don’t use the rectangular gates as attachment points! They are not welded and will bend open (replacing them with welded D-rings [or welded gates like on the Rubstraints] would be the best solution tbh).
  2. You can use a big shackle as an improvised attachment point. If the thick metal wire is a bit uncomfortable for the bottom, a narrow and soft tape sling tied in a bowline also does the trick. I have tried carabineers but they tend to turn and slip, making it more uncomfortable.

An Improvised Attachment Point for the Toe Cuffs

I cannot review this toy without talking about impact play on the feet itself. Like the hand, the foot has many delicate bones which easily shatter. There is fat tissue and almost no thick muscle tissue to dampen the kinetic energy of the impact blow. So don’t let yourself be fooled by movies where people use thick bamboo canes to punish a guy! Instead use riding crops, thin canes with medium blow intensity, floggers of strap out of not too stiff leather or padded paddles. You can also flick wooden, delrin or aluminum blades but no full blows. The danger of inflicting permanent damage is too high.

Of course, with the feet kept in place, they are in a perfect spot for having wax poured on them. Or playing with a Wartenberg wheel. Or prick soles on combination with a rolling pin. Or e-stim. There are many safe options out there to torment the soles. Just don’t be over enthusiastic when it comes to actual bastinado 😉

Conclusion: Innovative special purpose restraint with practical shortcoming.

The McHurt Plain Rubber Paddle and Rubber Paddle with Holes

I sometimes get messages from rubber fetishist who are looking for impact implements made out of their favorite material. I already reviewed the rubber implements sold by Mr S and the vicious Ballistic Metal Viper but I guess you can never have enough spanking toys.

Construction

Today I will be reviewing to paddles: A plain oval one and a rectangular one with holes in the impact section. Both paddles are made out of industrial rubber which is different from the latex used for fetish play because aging protectors and antioxidants are added in the manufacturing process. Because of this you do not apply talc powder or silicone oil when storing the paddles or have to worry too much when they come in contact with oil or fat (though you should also not test their resistance too much). Of course rubber still is a hard to treat and delicate material. So the paddles do not look as refined and spotless as leather or wood paddles. But they have been executed perfectly. All the sharp edges from the water saw have been broken and deburred to prevent unintended cuts. The grip on both paddles are two thick pieces of screwed through the body with two sturdy bolts. So much for the similarities.

Detail of the Plain Paddle’s Rough Side

The plain paddle has an overall length of 30cm, half of it for the grip. The oval shaped impact section is 15cm long and measures 8cm at the widest spot. The body is made out of 6mm thick rubber which as a smooth and a rougher surface which comes from the manufacturing process. The rubber is just thin enough to still be floppy.

The other paddle is equally long and has the same grip length. The impact section is also 8cm wide but rectangular. Three rows with two holes each have been drilled into the surface to allow air to travel through them. The body is made out of two 6mm thick rubber pieces glues together on the rough side so you have a smooth surface on both sides. To strengthen the tie, seam runs around the paddle.

Playing with the Paddles

Detail of the Stichting

Through their unique construction, they produce unexpected sensations for rubber impact implements. First, let’s look at the plain paddle.

Usually, you could not make a long-lasting paddle out of 6mm thick rubber because it would break too easily. McHurt fixed that through the reinforced grip. The grip also focuses the kinetic energy purely on the impact section. Because of that the paddle can be used for light tapping and actually also warm-up. Increasing the power quickly transforms the tapping sensation into pure sting. The sting is a bit dulled when using the rough surface but it also adds an abrasive sensation. Especially when spanking powerful the plain paddle colors quickly. Sadly through the thick grip, the paddle is a bit unbalanced towards the grip.

The paddle with holes is a completely different matter. Through the weight, stiffness and denseness of the double layered rubber it is a thuddy bruiser. So it should only be used on well-padded body areas to prevent unintended injuries. The paddle does not really color that much but when it does, it leaves bruises. Due to the holes there is no air cushion softening the impact. So it is not for the faint of heart. To be honest, compared to other rubber paddles it takes quite some power to make the sub scream with this paddle. But luckily the paddle is well balanced so the wrist does not tire out easily.

Detail of the Grip’s Bolts

Rubber is a good material for sever spankings because is the sub starts to bleed or the impact pushes out tissue water, rubber can easily be sanitized. Simply wash the paddle with warm water and dish soap and spray with sanitizer after is tried.

How to get the Paddles

Even though McHurt has an online store, they do not sell everything on there – which sadly also applies for these paddles. Also, they are not located in the kinky part of town but in an inconspicuous corner store close to Tempelhof. So if you are interested in them, either drop them an e-mail or take the time to visit their store. They carry a lot of spanking toys you do not see everywhere so the trip is worth the way!

Conclusion: Uniquely designed rubber paddles with a wide range of sensations

McHurt Slave Driver

Both Versions of the Short McHurt Slave Driver

Both Versions of the Short McHurt Slave Driver

These toys are basically build like traditional all leather riding whips were made before the shafts were made out of polymers. The handle is made out of four layers of English bridle leather which is sowed and glued together. Out of this handle the slapper develops. Depending on the version it is either a 25cm long and 1.5cm wide strap of bridle leather or four 27.5cm long 7mm wide square cut bridle leather straps. At the back end there is a woven knot and a leather loop. Both versions have a total length of 55cm without the loop.

The come in different color versions yet for some weird reason not in all black. I chose black with red accents which I guess will still fit most play rooms.

Playing with it

When I first showed these toys to a friend he said “Well, they kind of look like the child of a single tail and a riding whip” and that puts it really well. Both whips are vicious! Even a light tapping already produces some level of sting that with just a little bit more force becomes intense. Though the single slapper is a little bit less intense than the other one.

Detail of the Handle Turning into the Slapper

Detail of the Handle Turning into the Slapper

I like these toys for their handling. While in single tail terms the single strap one resembles a legree resp. dragon’s toung and the four square cut model is like a whistler, the handle of both toys are stiffer making them easier to control than a single tail. They are also just short enough to be used on a sub bound to a spanking bench yet just long enough to throw at the back of a sub bound to a St. Andrews Cross. Yet in this case most likely the tips only hit the back causing VERY intense pain. If you are more interested in the latter usage scenario there are longer versions of both toys available. Since McHurt doesn’t sell these toys online I sadly can’t tell you the exact length. If you are interested in them, just shoot them a mail.

Detail of the Two Different Slapper Versions

Both toys mark fairly well and quickly. While the legree like produced more bruises, the whistler like whip can leave welts. A top of my test panel managed to break the skin with the whistler in a long scene. I could not recreate that yet it is something to be aware off. Especially since the leather has not surface treatment and thus is difficult to disinfect.

Conclusion: Vicious and easy to use stingy impact toys.

Preserving the Burning Fire – On Outgrowing and Passing on Toys

S&M stands for sexual magic

– Patrick Califia

Passing on toys and gear has a long tradition in the BDSM and fetish community. One of the reasons for that is the concept of energy transfer during a scene. What happens during play is more than just the exchange of mental or physical force between the top and the sub. An intense connection between them is formed that consists out of more than the sum of its parts (If you are curious about this more spiritual aspect of BDSM I recommend the works of Marc Thompson or Joeff Mains). For some people this connection is the origin of headspace, for some the sole reason they engage in BDSM and certainly an intense, overwhelming and mind-shattering experience when you experience it for the first time.

The First Restraints I have ever bought: The McHurt Ihsan Wrist, Ankle and Boots Cuff and Hand Suspension Restraints

The First Restraints I have ever bought: The McHurt Ihsan Wrist, Ankle and Boots Cuff and Hand Suspension Restraints

The concept of energy exchange also includes that some of the energy of the players stays in their gear and toys. For that reason some pieces of gear or toys are special and dear to perverts and not easily parted with. Most often floggers, boots or bar vests are considered to be special in that way. In my case three pairs of McHurt restraints are that way. They were among the first things I reviewed for this website and liked them a lot. It feels, they have been with me forever. But when I looked up the order date for writing this article I was stunned: I had only bought them in early December 2011. Not even half a decade felt like a life time. This illustrates really well what they mean to me. All the fun, experiments, surprising experiences and intense emotions are somewhat bound to them. Yet as I matured as a kinkster I outgrew them. While I still stand to my 3 ½ year old review and consider them a good pair of restraints to start out with I want more: More padding, more D-rings, more build quality, more features. So I choose the Fetters Padded Locking Wrist and Ankle Cuffs from Regulation to replace them.

This evaluation process happened with some toys over the last year. I looked at them and realized I haven’t been using them in a long time; saw no real play scenario for them anymore so I sold them to friends, to strangers, to anybody interested. These restraints were different. They not only represent for me the scenes I had in them but also my getting serious about BDSM: Committing to my longings, considerably investing money in this part of myself and somehow giving my desires a physical representation. Yet despite all these arguments I decided to pass them on. As soon as I would get the new ones the old ones would become an exhibition piece. Laying in my toy chest, reminding me of good times and fond memories. But like an instrument not being played anymore, they would be a dead accumulation of matter, slowly fading away, losing all the energy stored in them. So giving them away just by chance was no option! They are too special for me to see them disappear out of my life. Ultimately I decided to give them to a young pervert who is slowly exploring his desires, being just like me 4 ½ years ago willing to commit to his dreams and turn them into reality. So these special pieces will continue to live on in the BDSM scene until he outgrows them and hopefully then passes them on to someone special just like I did.

As important as these restraints are to me I am lucky that I am not parting completely from them: The set I ordered back then also included a pair of boot restraints, large enough to even fetter MX boots. A toy I have not seen elsewhere yet and thus I am keeping it: For memory sake, for current play, for future times when this mythical and mind-blowing bond between top and sub manifests again.

Hail thee who play

McHurt Cushioned Leather Riding Whip

Vendor: McHurt

Design

The Cushioned Riding Whip

The Cushioned Riding Whip

The basic design resembles the Dungeon riding whip I reviewed about two month ago. The shaft is made entirely out of several layers of thick and sturdy bridle leather which is sowed and glue together. The hand loop is glued between the different leather layers at the bottom of the shaft. The length of the shaft is difficult to determine. After 28cm approx. 3cm wide and 18cm long swat starts but the shaft continues for another 8cm making this part inflexible. After that part the last 10cm are a bit flexible and somewhat padded but still stiffer than “normal” swats of riding whip. The overall length of the toy is approx. 46,5cm without the hand loop.

Color wise you have to options: While the shaft is always black you can choose between a classic black or Bordeaux colored swat.

Detail of the swat

Detail of the swat

Playing with it

Getting the intended effect out of this toy requires a bit of practice because the way the swat hits the skin impacts the sensation strongly. The last 10cm of the swat produce a nice, thuddy sensation so if you want to thud you have to hit the sub only with the end. If you hit with the entire swat or the first 8cm there will also be a stingy sensation. Depending on the angle and are you hit the sub’s body you can create different and interesting effects. I have to admit that it took me quite some time to practice my technique but once you master it this toy offers some variety.

Of cause a more controlled way of impact is just snapping the swat onto the desired body area. Due to the stiffness of the thick, padded leather there is a decent amount of force in a snap, but it can’t be compared to a hit or a snap with an acrylic rod of the same size p.e.. Regardless if you hit or snap, the small size makes this toy ideal for targeting small areas. While I recommended the Dungeon riding whip for hitting the balls leisurely I use this toy to just hit single balls separated by a corresponding stretcher or individual nipples.

Hand loop with weaved knot at the end

Hand loop with weaved knot at the end

Another play aspect this toy is made for is sensual play. The leather covering the padding is wrapped around the top forming a round, smooth piping like ending, making it ideal to travel over the body. And thanks to the padding and thicker leather of the swat it doesn’t bend even with stronger pressure applied. The leather is also quite smooth which makes it easy to lick.

If you want an even more thuddy riding whip yet with less intense pain, McHurt offers a riding whip with a plastic shaft and swat with soft padding and faux leather covering.

The McHurt Dressage Stick

The McHurt Dressage Stick

As the name of the toy says it is an approx. 64cm long stick with a diameter of approx. 2,6cm. Inside the stick is a quite flexible core to which a thin layer of quite soft padding is attached. The entire stick is covered in very soft, black nappa leather. There is a fold covering up the seam running along the shaft on one side. On the lower third of the shaft a hand loop is attached. The bottom of the stick is covered by some form of plastic cap.

The all-leather tip

The all-leather tip

Playing with it

This toy has two sides to it: The pain side and the sensual side which work together very well. Even though this toy is lightweight through the padding and flexible the pain sensation is mainly thuddy. Don’t get fooled by the padding, due to the flexible construction you can put a lot of power into the strokes creating quite sever pain. The skin coloring is surprisingly light so you can work a limited area for quite some time before it colors for an extended period of time.

The sensual side is ideal for getting the fantasy of the sub going or for taking a carrot-and-stick approach. Because of the length of the dressage stick a top can easily walk around a kneeling sound, letting the tip of the stick travel above his skin – either with the soft, warm leather end or the harder, colder plastic one. Both side are smooth enough for creating goose bumps.

The plastic cap at the end

The plastic cap at the end

This introduction to the toy is especially effective when the sub is blindfolded and doesn’t know what awaits him. I haven’t seen a toy like this around anywhere else so on numerous occasions I had a sub expecting a baton due to the shape or a slim paddle due to the leather. The surprise when the impact is different from what they have expected is great.

What this toy is NOT is being a baton. It might look like a leather version of an old British one but it is simply is too flexible for detaining or chocking someone who is really fighting against it. I have tried it once and had to stop it because I feared to break the toy. If you have actually tried it out, please send me a mail how it went.

The McHurt Riding Crop "Dungeon"

The McHurt Riding Crop „Dungeon“

After having talked so much about different ways to stretch your balls today I want to review one of my favorite toys to torture them.

Design

The Dungeon riding whip from McHurt follows a slightly different design than your standard riding crop: First of all the entire toy is made out of leather. The shaft has a length of 28cm before the swat begins and is made out of several layers of thick and sturdy bridle leather which is sowed and glue together. At the bottom end of the shaft a hand loop is glued between the different leather layers. At the top end of the shaft there is a swat measuring approx. 16cm in total length with 10,5cm usable length by 4,1cm width.

Detail of the Multi-Layer all Leather Shaft sowed and glued together

Detail of the Multi-Layer all Leather Shaft sowed and glued together

It is made out three sowed and glue together layers of soft nappa leather which is stiff enough for a decent blow.

On the whip I own the edges on one side of the swat are rather sharp and hard, on the other soft and round. I will be at McHurt this Friday to figure out if this is the case for all riding whips. The bottom of the shaft is decorated with weaved leather a bit like a knot on a flogger. The overall length of the toy is approx. 45cm without the hand loop.

Color wise you have to options: Either a classic black or Bordeaux colored shaft. The swat is always black.

Playing with it

Detail of the Swat

Detail of the Swat

The classic design makes playing with this riding whip different than with today’s standard riding crops. The swat is much large, so the impact sensation is a bit like hitting with a small, flexible paddle which is mounted onto a long handle. Also due to being sowed and glued together the “slapping effect” doesn’t occur so the pain is less intense and less stingy than you would expect from a “riding” toy. But the design doesn’t take away the nice sound when the slapper hits the skin so this toy is good for an impressive show without too intense pain. But don’t let yourself be fooled: Depending on the force you put into the blow this toy can seriously hurt!

The Mesh Knot with the Hand Loop and embossed McHurt Logo

The Mesh Knot with the Hand Loop and embossed McHurt Logo

In my opinion these properties make this toy ideal for CBT: The handle is ideal for leisurely hitting the balls of your sub when he p.e. is kneeling in front of you or is laying on a bondage table so the top doesn’t have to bend down too much. The less intense force (= pain) is enough to put the sub into agony without causing damage too quickly.

Of cause this riding whip is also ideal for a traditional spanking scene. Beside the swat the flexible yet sturdy shaft can be used for hitting. The handling is a bit difficult if you don’t want the sub to be hit by the swat but with a bit of exercise you can deliver nice thuddy blows. They won’t be as intense as when using a Sjambok but still will be memorable.

Long Bat and Mini Bat compared to each other

Long Bat and Mini Bat compared to each other

The bat is one of the more classic paddle forms with round ends and increasing width towards the top. It is made out of thick bull hide and has a metal inlay to keep it stiff. The inlay has a bit of a flex so  after a sever spanking using only one site of the paddle, you have to bend it into shape a bit. On the bottom you will find a loop made out of soft leather.

I own both versions of the paddle: The long bat with the measurements 41cm by 4,5cm at the widest part and 7mm thickness and the mini bat which is 28cm by 3,5cm and 6mm thick.

Playing with it

The paddles are very flexible: Depending on how you use them the pain sensation can range between a light thud to a sever sting. While the large paddle is more for spanking an ass or for lighter bastinado (depending on your subs feet size), I tend to like the smaller a bit more. First of all: It is handy, fits in most briefcases or even the inner pocket of your jacket. Also the stiffness of the inlay at the mini bat is just right so that you can snap it precisely against small areas like nipples, single balls or the glans.

Apparently both paddles have been balanced to fit a hand of my size (European glove size 7 ½). Holding and swinging them are effortless and even after long spanking sessions my wrist didn’t get tired.

Speaking of getting tired: As with every good impact toy, the character of the toy changes a bit over time. The leather gets softer over time so the sensation shifts a bit from sting to thud. If you want to create the same sensation over time you need to alter your movements a bit and/ or increase force.

If you are into coloring your sub’s skin this toy is good for it. Even after some lighter hits the skin turns nicely red but not as quickly as with for example a rubber prisoner strap. So this toy is good if you want to engage in a longer spanking session with nice coloring but not wearing your sub out.

McHurt Screw-on Weights

Vendor: McHurt

Construction

50g weight with the snap-hook screwed on

100g weight with the snap-hook screwed on

The construction of this toy is basic and functional. The weights have a barrel shape with a diameter of approx. 2,7cm and a length depending on the weight (100g: 1,6cm; 250g: 4,7g; 500g: 9,1cm). The 1.000g weight has a diameter of 5cm and e length of 6,5cm. On top of every weight is a male screw threat with 7mm diameter and 6mm length; you find the corresponding female screw threat on the bottom. Also available are snap-hooks mounted free to move on a small barrel with a female screw threat inside to put the weights on all sorts of chains, d-rings, etc.

The weights are made out of steel with a chromium coating.

Playing with it

Generally speaking weights are very nifty toys: They can apply a steady draft without needing action from the top. Also you can incorporate them in basic yet effective mind games: The increased pain through the draft will make the bottom want to move. But when he starts to move the draft will get even stronger.

From left to right: 500g, 250g and 100g weight

Through the different and thoughtful amounts of weight the draft can be dosed very precisely. Yet the construction with the small diameter can cause problems when you put together a lot of weight. I have sessions when I hit the ground due to adding more and more weights to a parachute. You could unscrew weights and exchange them for the 1.000g weights but this is not only complicated but contradicts the effect of constant added weight.

Rust on the screw threat

Rust on the screw threat

A more severe problem are the metals which are used. Chromium is a brittle material which more or less quickly comes off on the top surface and the screw threat. Because they weights are made out of normal and not stainless steel they will inevitably start to rust. At first I filed the rust away, used oil to stop it, etc. but at the moment I simply let it rust and don’t care. But if you are a fan of shine well kept toys, you should think twice before buying these weights.
