Slap Stick

My set of Carved Kink Slap Sticks made out of Iroko, Purpleheart and Teak

Vendor: Carved Kink

Addendum April 2019: Sadly the Purpleheart stick did not withstand my play long and broke during a scene at Easter Berlin. If I designed them again, I would make the wood at least 8mm thick. This would probably also improve the handling a bit.

Now I am very curious how the remaining two will hold up in the months to come.

Construction

The Slap Sticks are small, narrow wooden bats, almost like rulers. I experience them as a bottom at Inferno 46 last year and since I could not find them in any store, commissioned a set of three at Carved Kink this summer. A small Teak one measuring 15x200mm, a medium Purpleheart one in 20x250mm and a large Iroko with the dimensions of 25x300mm. Their thickness varies between 3mm and 5mm depending on the chosen wood and the size.

Detail of the Slap Stick’s Finish

All edges and corners are rounded and the surface is first perfectly sanded and then oiled to not only prevent splinters from forming or causing unwanted cuts but to really bring out the grain and character of the wood. To keep the Slap Sticks this way, they should be rubbed off with a cloth soaked in olive oil every few months. At the bottom of each bat there is a countersunk bole through which a thin leather strap is threaded. The leather loop is short and thus just for storage and not for attaching the Slap Stick to the wrist.

Playing with the Slap Stick

As the name already says, these mini-bats are made for slapping. Hold one of them between two or three fingers, take the other hand to pull is back and let the tip hit the bottom’s body. Their easiness to target and control predestinate the Slap Stick for CBT and TT to hit the nipple, individual balls or glans. But they are also great, bruising tools for general impact play. The targeted sensation comes close to a cane but since the stick lacks the flexibility of one it will leave the sub puzzled at first what has hit them. Other uses are body drumming or just tapping. Especially when tapping just one spot, an easily dismissed sensation will soon become an annoying and ultimately agonizing.

Detail of the Different Woods

The pain sensation depends on which area hits the body: The sides are a bit thuddy while the flat surface will create sting, the more intense the longer and narrower the stick is. Because the wood is so thin, the impact will make it oscillate adding a unique acoustic dimension to the spanking.

Handling the Slap Sticks properly takes some time and patience. As written in the last paragraph the Slap Sticks through the thinness are somewhat flexible and give in, but they are still thin wooden sticks which will break under too much force. They are made for delicate, targeted impact which develops over time instead of a brute-force spanking scene.

Detail of the Leather Loop for easier Storage

Being made out of wood and not having a sealed off surface, they are difficult to clean after a scene. I usually wipe mine off with a wet cloth and then use a sanitizing wipe. Never soak them in water because this will damage the wood! If you are doing heavier play, keep in mind that through the open pores of the wood, blood will leave stains on the bat.

Conclusion: Small, nifty and nasty impact toy for delicate play.

Mill Strap

The London Tanners Mill Strap

Vendor: The London Tanners

Construction

As the name of the impact toy already implies, the basis is one long 4cm wide strap of 5.5mm thick leather. The overall length of the toy is 36cm of which the lower 13.5cm are folded together by another, narrower strap and two sleeve nuts forming the grip. The narrower strap does not wrap tightly around the broader one but forms a little loop which houses a d-ring for easy storage. The toy features some nice details like the saddlers’ crease both on the broad and the narrow strap and the embossed hallmark on one side of the broad strap. Regarding the color, you can choose between a classic black or tobacco brown which I bought.

Detail of the embossed Company’s Hallmark

While this sounds pretty standard for an impact implement, what sets the Mill Strap apart from other is the leather and finishing quality. The leather quality caused some discussion in my testee panel. It is top notch pure vegetable tanned British hide. This means there is no risk of allergy due to Chrome-6 for example which is important when doing heavy impact play since the bottom’s sweat can wash out the Chrome-6 and the tormented skin can easily reabsorb it. However, since the oak tanning process is very gentle, the hide does not get softened. So now after almost three months of regularly using it, my Mill Strap is not even close to being broken in. What helps to facilitate the breaking in process is kneading the loop. This does not make the Mill Strap a bad toy, just for a relatively long time, it performs more like a paddle than a strap. Furthermore, the oak used for tanning the leather gives it a distinct, strong smell which – in my case luckily – will fade away over time while some testees liked it very much.

Detail of the Strap forming the Grip and housing the D-Ring for easier Storage

The finish quality is one of the best out there. The surface is oiled and waxed for a super-smooth finish and the edges are burnished for no unintentional abrasions.

Playing with the Mill Strap

The Mill Strap delivers what the name promises: An easy to control, stingy impact toy. Since the strap is flexible, it can even be used for warm-up when carefully and lightly tapping the bottom’s cheeks. While the strap is long enough to hit both cheeks, due to the thick leather’s weight this strap is rather loop-heavy. Because of that I would recommend targeting single cheeks.

As written above it takes some time to break the strap to get the slapping effect of this kind of toys. Once you have reached that point, the sensation of thick upper half back lashing turns the medium sting into an intense one. Also, the cracking sound of slappers and straps then appears, adding another sensual dimension to the impact play.

Detail of the Strap’s Loop with the Saddlers‘ Crease on both Sides

To my surprise, the Mill Strap does not color as much as I did expect of such toy. It will redden the skin quickly but not as much as a paddle and the red will quickly fade. Also none of my testees managed to produce bruises with it. While naturally this depends on the sub’s body, the Mill Strap seems to be a good implement for sessions which should not leave lasting marks.

If you prefer a little bit of thud, simply turn the toy around and hit the sub with the grip. The stiffness of four layers of tightly folded leather will still sting but the sheer weight will add some thud, giving the Mill Strap even some bruiser potential. Especially when the strap is broken in, flinging the grip forward will develop movement momentum, allowing to hit the sub with little force. Especially when doing this more or less uncontrolled hitting, the d-ring hitting the bottok might become a problem – or an appreciated backlash.

Conclusion: Premium stingy impact implement which take a long time to get broken in.

Gripz Paddle

Vendor: Ballistic Metal

The Ballistic Gripz Paddle

Construction

The Gripz Paddle is made out of 6mm thick brushed aluminum. The edges are well rounded so there are no sharp ridges. It comes in two sizes with the smaller one being about 300mm long and the larger one 450mm of which 160mm are for handle which tappers out of the body. It is covered in a vinyl sheath which you can either leave on the handle for a better grip or take it off to take advantage of the hole at the bottom for better storage or threading a leather loop through it. The paddle I have been sent for reviewing is kind of a hybrid version because it is a large one cut down to a two-patch version.

Detail of the Handle and the Vinyl Cover

The hitting surface is 87mm wide and depending on size 140mm resp. 290mm long. On both sides of the paddle’s head 66x66mm squares are milled and black rubber pads with a pyramid texture are glued into them. The small version has two patches, the larger three.

For a small fee Ballistic Metal offers personalization through engraving on all their aluminum toys. So you can add name your paddle like a sword or simply have your nickname added so you can identify your toys in a play party.

Detail of the Gripz Rubber Pads with a Pyramid Texture

Playing with the Gripz Paddle

Through the shape and size, the Gripz is a very traditional spanking paddle. The smaller one is perfect for targeting individual cheeks and still just nimble enough for bastinado while the larger one has the right size for hitting the entire ass, thighs or even belly spanking. Through the thickness the aluminum will not give in a bit so the entire kinetic energy of the impact is transformed into pain making the Gripz a stingy toy – like all aluminum paddles. But the rubber pads make it extra nasty. The rubber itself adds even more sting, taking away all of the little thud aluminum impact toys have due their weight. For extra meanness, shift the paddle a bit in the impact moment so it travels over the skin to add a burning abrasive sensation. Due to this the Gripz colors the sub more quickly than other aluminum paddles. Through the pyramids’ “spikey” imprint and abrasion the first color is a bright red which darkens quickly and eventually turns into bruises, depending on the impact force. The paddle is light enough not to pose a threat on well-padded body areas, but when hitting delicate areas like foot soles, caution is advisable in order not to break bones.

An E-Stim Lead attached to the Paddle

The small version is surprisingly well balanced. When I had the chance to try out the larger one from a friend it was like all aluminum paddles head heavy. But since this brute is not made for an hour-long scene, this does not really matter.

Beyond impact play, the rough texture of the pads make the Gripz a fun toys for sensation play. Let it lightly travel over the body for tickling and teasing the sub or rub it over forcefully for a burning sensation. This is especially agonizing at the nipples or the glans. For sensation play, I found the smaller version easier to use because it is more nimble.

Detail of a Custom Engravement

To add a sensation, you can take advantage of the material properties of aluminum. First, it easily takes on temperature. But since the rubber patches are glued to the aluminum, I would not recommend to put it into the freezer to cool it down or to heat the at all Gripz. For cooling down, use cooling pads for a gentle, controlled cooling and enjoy your sub squirming when cold aluminum hits the warm-spanked skin. Aluminum also conducts electricity so I tape a 4mm banana plug lead to the handle, attach the counter-electrode to the balls and choose a program with continuous output on the power box. For safety reasons, the counter electrodes and the impact area must be below the waist! Introducing the paddle to e-stim play is usually very surprising to the sub but since you have to deal with leads dangling between you, the sub and the power box, it is not for long, forceful scenes.

Conclusion: The meanest, fastest coloring aluminum paddle in my collection.

Toy Prototype: Whale Penis Flogger

ToyTorture.com is not only about reviewing toys. On a regular basis small toy makers approach me and ask for advice on market research and product design. Since clever, ingenious toy design intrigues me, I am always excited and happy to bring a new means of perversion into the world.

During the holiday season last year Jonas from Tromsø in Norway contacted me. His primary kink is impact play and in the long dark winters he taught himself how to make floggers. Like his father and grandfather he is working in fishery. After mastering the “traditional” hides like bull or elk, he quite successfully started experimenting with hides from his daytime job, mostly classic aquatic leathers like shark or ray. In October he got his hands on a truly unique hide and started turning it into a flogger which he was very eager to show me. Since he was in Berlin for BLF Easter, we met for a coffee at Romeo&Romeo today. I have seen many extravagant toys and unique designs, but this one blew my mind.

The Whale Penis Hide Tails before Stroking them

Knowing of his passion for exotic hides, a friend from the Norwegian College of Fishery Science gave Jonas a hide of a whale penis and he turned it into flogger tails. When I first saw the flogger, it looked weird. It had a standard sized grip but only six thin and short tails. I know this kind of tails from pocket floggers I sometimes use in spanking scenes. But they have smaller grips for better handling. The tails’ leather is very soft and flowing, almost like Deer hide and has a smooth, slightly grained surface. The magic start when you start stroking the tails: They quickly grow in length and width, get heavier and after a minute of caressing and jerking a full-sized flogger was lying on the table! What first was a light warm-up toy for small areas grew to a big, heavy thudder. This effect is the reason why there are only six tails. He experimented with eight or even twelve, but as soon as they started growing, the knot holding them together burst.

Obviously, this toy has great potential. It is small enough to fit in a pocket and is easy to carry around. The small tails work great for a close-up, intimate warm-up. Once you are done, simply stroke the tails or expose them to vibration to make them grow and continue the scene with full-size flogger.

After Stroking them, the Tails became long, thick, wide and heavy

As excited I am to get to call one of these floggers my own, Jonas still has some major problems to work out. First, there is the right amount of stroking. If you overdo it, the tails get hard as a rock and you either have to use it as a paddle, wait at least half an hour or put them into ice-water to make them soft again. Especially when using the ice-water, it takes a lot of rubbing to make them grow again. The next issue is the grip balance. It is either too small and too light to control the big thudder or cartoonishly large for the small, short tails. Until now, he only managed to make round-cut tail-ends. He experimented with angle-cut but if you hit the sub too hard with them, sometimes the tips squirt, soiling the sub’s back. Last but not least, ethically sourcing the hide is a big issue. But Jonas is determined to work out these kinks and bring this amazing product to the market soon. He is already experimenting with some other exotic hides. He showed me a video of an electric eel hide flogger he is hoping to turn into a toy, combining e-stim and impact play. So I am very certain we will hear a lot from this talented young man in the near future.

Oxballs Kick Ass Paddle

The Oxballs Kick Ass Paddle

Vendor: Regulation

Construction

The Kick Ass Paddle is made by Ballistic Metal for Oxballs. It is made out of brushed aluminum. The edges are well rounded so there are no sharp ridges. With an overall length of 290mm it is one of the smaller impact implements on the market. Being made out of metal it still weights 300g.

The hitting surface measures 95x105mm with the upper half being a semi-circle. While one side of the hitting surface is smooth, onto the other side a 10mm thick heel part of a boot’s sole is glued. It is made out of a firm black rubber material. The handle is 185mm long and 32mm wide. Its lower half has a vinyl cover for better grip. Like all aluminum paddles with this vinyl cover made by Ballistic Metal there is no hole at the bottom of the handle for easier storage.

The Smoothing Hitting Surface with a Detail of the Brushing and Rounded Edges

Playing with the Kick Ass Paddle

The small and rounded shape of the hitting surface makes the Kick Ass Paddle ideal for precise targeting of small areas like a single ass cheek or areas which are usually targeted with punching like the pecs or upper arms. One top friend of mine even uses it for bastinado though through the relatively long handle it takes some practice. With lighter swing and more control the Kick Ass is just still small enough for ball play from tapping to busting. The handle is long enough for some leverage so you can even do some crushing action between the hitting surface and a metal ball stretcher.

Detail of the Tread of the Boot’s Sole Side of the Hitting Surface

Both sides induce distinct sensations. The smooth side has some thud to it and is a real bruiser with high energy impact play. The textured side is stingy. The tread is high enough with space between the raised bits that the air caught between the hitting surface and the body can escape so there is not air cushion to soften the blow. The edges of the tread are not sharp but especially when you pull perpendicularly at the impact moment the sole pattern has some abrasive qualities. This side mostly reddens and doesn’t leave bruises. But if you target precisely you can imprint the sub’s cheeks with the boot pattern.

A nice material property of aluminum is the fact that is quickly takes on temperature. So when the area is nicely spanked red and warm dip the paddle into a bucket of ice water for a minute to let it cool down. The sensation of a cold paddle hitting a warm body area is quite unique.

Due to the short handle and the thick and rather heavy boot sole, the paddle is rather head-heavy. Especially when spanking in an even rhythm a dynamic quickly develops which can tire out the wrist.

Conclusion: Mean and nimble paddle with two distinct impact sensations.

Paddle Daddy Impact Toys

The Paddle Daddy Bulletproof Paddle with Holes and the Oak Paddle with Tread Rubber

Vendor: Clonzezone

Today I am taking a look at two different paddles from Paddle Daddy who offer quite different impact sensations.

Construction

The first paddle is a paddle made out of polished, varnished oak wood. The paddle’s body is 230mm long and 102mm wide and flows into as 110mm long handle which is tapered for a more comfortable and secure grip. At the bottom of the handle there is a hole with a leather string loop for securing the paddle to the wrist and hanging it more easily. The oak wood is 16mm thick but on one side of the paddle a piece of heavily treaded stiff black rubber is glued. The patch measures 210mm by 85mm and adds another 6mm of thickness. The entire paddle weights around 385g which can vary a bit based on the wood’s denseness. This paddle comes also in bubinga wood which has a reddish color. If you don’t need the rubber patch, Paddle Daddy offers paddles in a variety of shapes and sizes which also come in wenge, walnut and zebra wood.

Detail of the Holes which Reduce Air Resistance, Increasing the Impact Sensation

The other paddle is quite different. It is made out of a transparent, bulletproof polymer with a thickness of 6mm. The body measures 300mm by 89mm and features 13 holes with a diameter of 15mm each. The handle is 150mm long, slightly tapered and covered with a vinyl sleeve for better grip. Sadly this paddle does not have a wrist loop or even a hole for easier storage. All edges are rounded and deburred so there are no unintended abrasions. This version of the paddle weights 208g; there is also a model without the holes which is slightly heavier.

Playing with the Paddles

From a technical point of view both paddles function as the premium material and finish would imply: They rest in the hand comfortable and allow for long scenes without tiring out the wrist. Despite being a bit body-heavy I found swinging the oak paddle a bit easier because through its weight it builds a bit of momentum.

Detail of the Two Different Handle Styles

Due to the different length, the usage areas are a bit different. The oak paddle is the more versatile of the two. It is just long enough to hit both ass cheeks in the middle and can comfortably hit just one cheek yet small and nimble enough to target the inside of the thighs for example. One friend of mine even uses it for bastinado warm-up. The bulletproof paddle easily covers the entire ass and somewhat work to hit the large back or front part of the thighs. But even when you just want to hit a single ass cheek you have to step back to target the closer one or move around to hit the far one.

Through the different nature of both paddles, their impact is quite different. The bulletproof paddle is pure sting. When lightly tapping for warm-up there is a bit of thud but as soon as your start swinging it forcefully it hits like lightning – despite the slight flex in the material. The holes in the body drastically reduce the wind resistance, increase the speed and prevent the forming of air cushion between the paddle and the sub’s body which could soften the blow. Naturally this paddle quickly reddens the skin. If you are skilled in targeting, you can even manage to imprint the hole pattern on the subs body. If the scene does not go on too long, the paddle won’t leave any long-lasting bruises – depending on the sub. So for most people this is a good quick & dirty paddle which can induce excruciating pain quickly without lasting marks.

Detail of the Rubber Tread Texture

The wood paddle is very different. Through the higher mass which is contained in a smaller area, depending on the hitting technique this paddle can be thuddy. But since there is no give in the wood, the paddle can also sting. The rubbered adds another sensation dimension: The treads concentrate the impact energy on small areas, increasing the sting and leaves a nice pattern. If you move the paddle a bit parallel to the sub’s body at the impact moment there is also an abrasive sensation. To unleash this paddle’s full potential it takes a bit of practice. While the treaded side colors the sub as quickly as the bulletproof paddle with holes, it takes a bit longer with the smooth side. But when you increase the impact force it bruises quite easily.

After a scene, the bulletproof paddle is easy to clean. If you do not care if the surface scratches or becomes opaque, you can basically use everything for cleaning it. This makes it a great toy for finishing extreme scenes where there is a possibility of breaking skin. For the wood paddle and its rubber side I recommend a skin-friendly sanitizer.

Conclusion: Hand-crafted painful impact toys.

Pocket Crop

The Jack’s Flogger Pocket Crop

Vendor: Jack’s Flogger

Construction

This crop has a traditional riding crop design, but with its overall length just short of 400mm is considerably shorter than riding crops for sporting purposes.

Like almost all impact toys from Jack’s Flogger the handle is covered with braided leather, almost like a flogger handle. There is a tiny knot at both ends; the lower one houses a ring for easy storage. The shaft is made out of fiber glass and 145mm long. Most of it is covered in braided nylon but a bit of the upper part where leather of the slapper is sown around it. The 90mm long swat itself is made out of stiff, 4mm thick oil-taned bridle leather. 2/3 of it are 27mm wide and sown and glues together while the last third tappers up to a 12mm wide slapper.

Detail of the Swat

Playing with the Pocket Crop

Usually riding crops are used for quick, precise “long-range” punishment or encouragement like motivating a sub licking boots or goad him without having to get up. Being shorter the Pocket Crop allows for new kinds of play. It is short enough to be feasible for over the knee, hitting a sub strapped to a spanking horse while maintaining body contact or bastinado. The compact size makes it ideal for bringing life into toys which have lost their bite during a scene like clamps or suction cups. Simply hit them a bit and the sub will certainly feel them again.

Detail of the Braided Handle, End Knot and Ring for Storage

Like every riding crop the premiere sensation is stingy. The intensity can easily be adjusted from tapping over just flicking to full energy blows. While just hitting with the tip is a bit less intense because it has some give, hitting with the lower 2/3 is intense. The stiff leather in combination with the hard fiber glass turns all impact energy into pain. Like the different pain sensation, the coloring of the two sections is very different. The slapper leaves almost no marks but hitting with the entire swat quickly reddens the skin and leave bruises. While it will not break the skin easily I would recommend not hitting body parts with frail bones like the hand for example frequently and with high intensity. The same applies for CBT: Tapping or light flicking on the ball or the glans make the sub squirm. But full blows or hard flicking can lead to bruises or serious injuries so please be careful.

Even though the crop is quite short, it is not really jacket-pocket short. But it fits well into briefcases and became quite popular with BLUF friends of mine. They attached the crop to their belts or put it into their boots because it was shorter than traditional crops and thus not as cumbersome.

Conclusion: Short and powerful riding crop for an incredible price.

Sets of Delrin and Teflon Canes

Two Sets of Jack’s Floggers Canes
Top: Delrin; Bottom: Teflon

Vendor: Jack’s Floggers

Construction

Today I am going to take a look at two sets of canes made by Jack’s Floggers which I have bought this summer. All canes are made the same way: At the bottom there is a grip section covered in braided black leather with a small knot on both ends so they look and feel a bit like a flogger. The bottom knot houses a steel ring so you can store the canes easily. The cane itself is a round rod with a rounded, deburred tip so there is no risk of unintentional injuries. The canes come in diameters of 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm. The delrin canes are black and 70cm long while the PTFE (more commonly known as Teflon) are white and 50cm long. The white fluoresces under UV lighting so accordingly lid play spaces this effect adds some extra visual drama to the scene. Sadly Jack’s Floggers only offer the canes in the mentioned length and does not offer short or longer ones even on request.

Detail of the Braided Leather Handle with the Hanging Loop

Playing with the Canes

The rule of thumb is: The thinner a cane, the stingier the impact sensation will be. However the two materials invoke a bit different sensations. The delrin is quite stiff and thus even stingier. Their sensation is closer to the one of “traditional” natural canes made out of rattan or wicker. Teflon on the other hand is way denser yet more flexible so the blows tend to be thuddier. The 70cm length of the delrin ones are a standard cane length which is ideal for playing with a bit of distance between the sub and the top ranging from the sub being fettered to a spanking bench to standing positions like on a St. Andrews Cross. The shorts Teflon ones are made for more intimate play like over the knee caning. The shorter length makes good targeting more important, especially when you want to hit both cheeks, thighs or sole of the feet. Since canes transfer a lot of kinetic energy onto a very small area, this kind of toy should be use with caution and experience and only on through muscles and fat tissue well padded body areas. Especially when doing bastinado (caning of the feet) or hitting hands (a practice commonly done in schoolboy scenes) do not use too much force. You might break the small and thus fragile bones. When it comes to marking both materials are in no way inferior to rattan or wicker.

Detail of the Rounded and Deburred Tip

I intentionally chose synthetic canes over natural ones for three reasons: First, synthetic ones are love maintenance. While you have to water or wax natural canes before playing to keep them flexible, I can spontaneously grab the synthetic ones in a scene and just use them. Second, unlike rattan they are completely smooth and have the same degree of flexibility on the entire length. Rattan’s internodes can effect flexibility and create a hard bulge in the middle of the cane which can inflict unintended and hard to control pain. Third and most important there is the saver sex aspect. Through the large amount of kinetic energy hitting the body, tissue fluid and in intense canings blood will cover the area in addition to sweat and abraded skin. Even polished and waxed wicker has a somewhat rough surface making it ideal for bacteria and viruses to linger and grow. So a natural cane should only be used on a single sub. Synthetic canes on the other hand can easily be sanitized and quickly be used again on a different sub.

I also chose the materials intentionally. Synthetic canes are made out of a number of different materials. Metal ones especially in combination with e-stim or heat/cool play are fun but in a high intensity scene hard to dose; they can actually shatter bones. Fibre glass or acryl can break in half or “just” spall causing nasty wounds which in case of fibre glass in some cases will never heal.  Delrin and Teflon are basically unbreakable and will last you a lifetime.

Conclusion: Well made and easy to use and maintain cane set.

ToyTortures Top 10 Toys: DeTails Flogger Set

The different colored handles of my flogger set.

Flogging is one of the most intimate and artistic yet difficult form of BDSM play. Quiet easy to learn its basic it takes a long time to master it and develop ones own style. Each set of flogger thus represents the personal preference of the top. Depending on if he likes it more stingy or thuddy, wants to meditate or punish, flogs single-handed or Florentine, the flogger are made differently. So each set tells a story about its owner. What all high-quality, individually made flogger tell is the story of craftsmanship with their braided knots and countless styles of woven handle covers.

My flogger set from DeTails

When I purchased my set from DeTails I chose the company for their value for money: Fitting my student budget I coud get exactly the flogger I wanted. Due to needing the right space and right play partner I rarely use my flogger. That saddens me because feeling and using this work of art is exhilarating. But when I do, I know it is going to be a mind-blowing experience.

When subbing none of all the toys in my collection makes me quiver in anticipation, pushes me to cry out of ecstasy or catharsis or give me an endorphin rush or give me an endorphin rush that even hours  after the scene keeps me from falling asleep like this set of flogger. When topping none of all the toys in my collection lets me physically and mentally connect with my sub. That’s why I love these flogger.

The price of a flogger depends on the tail’s hide, length and number. So it is best to talk to DeTails what you want and – especially when you are new to flogging – need before ordering. To learn about my set, read the in-depth review here.

Carbon Fiber Pain Stick

Vendor: Mr S

The Mr S Carbon Fiber Pain Stick

Construction

The Carbon Fiber Pain Stick’s basis is a 39cm long carbon rod with a diameter of 2.7mm. Unlike most other carbon fiber rods it is a solid one with a deburred tip. The former minimizes the risk of breaking or splintering, the latter prevents it from causing involuntary cuts. The lower 10.5cm of the rod is covered in isolating rubber with vinyl tips on both sides. Through the bottom tip runs one a nylon string loop.

Detail of the Beburred Tip

Playing with the Carbon Fiber Pain Stick

Carbon is a mean material for an impact toy: Lightweight, stiff, yet flexible. So the blows delivered by it are very stingy making the Pain Stick a delightfully devilish toy which needs to be handled delicately. Just a light tapping on the same spot can cause irritating pain, several blows will leave a welt. Because of that this is a great toy for mindfuck-scenes: The top doesn’t induce much force yet the sensation felt can be intense. The small size makes it an ideal for lightweight toy bags when going out to a bar or for precise targeting. But always keep in mind that this toys isn’t made for warming up the skin so adjust the ramping of the scene accordingly.

Another method of using the Pain Stick is pulling the tip back and flick it. This will induce extremely stingy pain which intensity depends on how far you pull it back and if only the tip or the entire rods hits the sub’s body. When you pull back the rod far enough blows can even be felt through thick leather! On bare skin bruises and welts are likely to occur. Since a lot of force is transmitted this way the target areas should be chosen carefully: On thin skinned body areas like the glans the skin will most likely break, delicate body areas like the balls serious bruises or injuries of the spermatic cord can lead to a visit of the ER.

Detail of the Rubber Covered Grip Section and the Loop

Carbon is a conducting material. So if the bite of the stick itself isn’t agonizing enough, it can be connected to an e-stim power box using a pole connection clamp. Since the e-stim sensation should be felt at the impact point, I recommend using a mass-rich counter pole. When playing on the ass or using the Pain Stick for CBT a metal anal electrode is the best option but a conductive rubber loop around the balls or base of the dick also works. For hitting the nipples a pad electrode attached next to the nipple is the safest option.

Since using this toy extensively on a sub can lead to contamination through sweat, interstitial fluid and blood, proper disinfection is important. Luckily carbon is a very low maintenance material in that regards. Simply wash off the residue with warm soap water, let it dry and spray a sanitizer on it. As robust and flexible carbon is, it sadly can break or splinter. So after ever scene, inspect the rod if it is still perfectly smooth. If not, replace it with a new one. The injuries cause by breaking or splintered carbon fiber are very serious and hard to treat.

Conclusion:  Small delightfully devilish toy with huge pain potential.
