Today I am basically reviewing leather belts. So the basic construction is fairly simple: It is a 35mm wide and 4mm thick strap made out of black, fine grained leather. You can get in various lengths; the ones I have gotten are 130cm, 120cm and 110cm but I guess you can also get them shorter. It features double punching starting approx. 18cm behind the buckle, each hole being reinforced by rivets. The spacing between the holes is 30mm so the belt can be adjusted quite finely. The buckle is a two-thorn roller bucket which makes closing and opening the belt easy.

Playing with it

I consider this type of toy a playroom essential because it comes in handy in so many situations: Tightening a bit too loose sleep sack, adding straps to a spanking bench, tying someone to a bondage table or a pole. Since these restraints are not padded I would only use them on areas which are naturally well padded like thighs, ass or the upper back. If you want to tie joints like the wrist or ankle down, make sure they are protected, p.e. through a pair of boots or thick gloves or use other, traditional padded restraints. Of cause for all these situations you can use rope but frankly for 4€ a piece, having some of them at hand when you need something quick is a wise investment in my opinion.

Going on hiatus

To my own surprise I have published quite regularly the last couple of weeks – and been rewarded with raising reader numbers. Thank you very much for your support and interest! You are my motivation when writing new reviews.

However, the next couple of weeks I will be going on hiatus. Tomorrow I will be flying to Chicago for about 2 ½ weeks. I have the privilege and the honor of having been invited to join one American BDSM groups on their annual run so my mind will probably be elsewhere than on reviewing toys. I will of cause always keep my eyes open for new, interesting toys. Right after the event I will fly into Berlin for Folsom Europe. Since I will arrive on Saturday around noon, I hope I can still make it to the street fair. If you see me, come say “hi”.

Yet again I review an impact toy with a very traditional shape much like last week’s Cushioned Paddle: The 16cm by 3,5cm grip turns into a long stretched octagonal head which measures 20cm by 7cm. This makes the size just right for fitting individual ass cheeks or thighs. A nice detail is the small Mister B logo lasered in the last quarter of the head. The design of the head however is unusual: It consists of a single layer of leather and a sowed and glued double layer of leather. The three layers are hold together at the handle by glue and three rivets. The last rivet holds a leather flap in placed containing a welded d-ring. This design raises one question: Is that really a paddle or a – non-traditional – slapper? This might be hairsplitting but when I buy a paddle I expect a single piece of (multiple layers of) leather.

The build quality is sturdy but isn’t as painstaking as I have seen with other toys. The leather layers are not completely in line and the glue between on the handle between the single- and double-layer is not evenly distributed. But this is just an aesthetic thing, the usability or effect of the toy isn’t compromised in any way.

Playing with it

This toy takes some practice and finesse to unfold the great potential it holds. When you hit with this paddle for the first time the two pieces will probably stick together. Due to the flexible leather the impact will create a stingy sensation. You will always create this effect when you hit with the single layer first. With some practice you can hit the sub with high intensity with the double layer first and then adding a little thuddy “afterthought” when the single layer hits the double layer. Especially experienced subs were a bit distracted when there as a second sensation after the first one. The slapping effect also occurs when you just lightly hit the skin. I found that very handy for warming up the skin before a longer spanking.

If you want real thud, take advantage of the hard edges which with 1cm heights are rather wide. Especially on well padded body areas like the thighs or ass hitting with the paddle’s edge creates a nice, deep thud.

Of cause you can turn this toy into a traditional paddle but tying the two leather pieces together. The pain sensation of this modification is quite stingy with a bit of thud. You can make the sensation even more interesting depending on the material you use for tying: If you want a normal paddle, I recommend using strong and wide elastic bands you can get in any drugstore. For the all leather feel I recommend leather strings (either the soft or the hard ones) which will make the surface uneven. Depending on which side you use (just the strings or the one with the knots holding the two ends together) you get a little to a lot more sting and can create interesting patterns (Leather string macramé anyone?). The last option I have tried out were Velcro cable ties. Depending on the design (p.e. whether the just have a small rough and soft area or a rough area and the rest is all smooth) the sensation can vary widely.

Some have hard edges adding sting, other bottoms find the impact of the rough side harder to take, some find the sensation of the rough side lightly travelling over the bruised skin interesting.

Regardless of the hitting technique I would categorize the coloring of this toy medium. It creates a nice red color that doesn’t stay too long. Of cause, when you tie hard strings around the paddle they will create redder marks which will stay longer. I also have to say that the toy is very well balanced.

This paddle has a very traditional shape: It consists out of a rectangular 25cm by 9cm head which tapers into a 15cm by 3,7cm grip. Onto the back of the grip a thick leather flap containing a welded d-ring is riveted. The bottom of this toy is made out of a 2mm thick bull hide. Next comes a piece of spring steel which runs through the entire toy and another piece of 2mm thick leather. On top 1mm thick soft cow hide is used which covers a piece of thick approx. 15mm thick, soft padding at the head. All layers are glued and sowed together for a very quality feel and add up to a weight of 360g.

If you don’t like the black color my paddle has, you can also get the paddle in dark red.

Playing with it

While the Janus Paddle I reviewed a couple of weeks ago was good for hitting small areas this is the toy to pick up for a proper, traditional spanking scene. It is large enough to distribute equal impact force onto both buttocks yet small enough for hitting the inside of individual thighs when the sub is bound to a spanking bench. Due to the almost lavish amount of padding the soft side of this paddle is either good for warm-up or delivers a strong, deep thud depending on the hit’s intensity. The unpadded side works like a traditional paddle. Because of the relatively high weight it takes more swing force for a strong sting sensation. This in my opinion makes this paddle ideal for a spanking beginner – both top and sub because it is hard to accidently create unwanted strong sensations. An experienced spanker will of cause soon learn to create all shades of sensations making it ideal for a very varied scene.

The coloring of this paddle really depends on the side: While the firm side colors the skin fairly quickly when you really sting, the soft side doesn’t color at all instantly. But after a long, intense thuddy scene there is a high chance of leaving bruises behind.

Sadly and unsurprisingly the paddle is slightly imbalanced towards the head so be prepared that your wrist will probably get tired sooner than you would expect from a lighter and more balanced paddle.

A couple of weeks ago I visited Demask in Dortmund – one of my favorite kinky stores – in order to find something to make leather on a mask a bit softer. The basic design resembles the Dungeon riding whip I reviewed about two month ago. The shaft is made entirely out of several layers of thick and sturdy bridle leather which is sowed and glue together. The hand loop is glued between the different leather layers at the bottom of the shaft. The length of the shaft is difficult to determine. After 28cm approx. 3cm wide and 18cm long swat starts but the shaft continues for another 8cm making this part inflexible. After that part the last 10cm are a bit flexible and somewhat padded but still stiffer than “normal” swats of riding whip. The overall length of the toy is approx. 46,5cm without the hand loop.

Color wise you have to options: While the shaft is always black you can choose between a classic black or Bordeaux colored swat.

Playing with it

Getting the intended effect out of this toy requires a bit of practice because the way the swat hits the skin impacts the sensation strongly. The last 10cm of the swat produce a nice, thuddy sensation so if you want to thud you have to hit the sub only with the end. If you hit with the entire swat or the first 8cm there will also be a stingy sensation. Depending on the angle and are you hit the sub’s body you can create different and interesting effects. I have to admit that it took me quite some time to practice my technique but once you master it this toy offers some variety.

Of cause a more controlled way of impact is just snapping the swat onto the desired body area. Due to the stiffness of the thick, padded leather there is a decent amount of force in a snap, but it can’t be compared to a hit or a snap with an acrylic rod of the same size p.e.. Regardless if you hit or snap, the small size makes this toy ideal for targeting small areas. While I recommended the Dungeon riding whip for hitting the balls leisurely I use this toy to just hit single balls separated by a corresponding stretcher or individual nipples.

Another play aspect this toy is made for is sensual play. The leather covering the padding is wrapped around the top forming a round, smooth piping like ending, making it ideal to travel over the body. And thanks to the padding and thicker leather of the swat it doesn’t bend even with stronger pressure applied. The leather is also quite smooth which makes it easy to lick.

If you want an even more thuddy riding whip yet with less intense pain, McHurt offers a riding whip with a plastic shaft and swat with soft padding and faux leather covering.

As the name of the toy says it is an approx. 64cm long stick with a diameter of approx. 2,6cm. Inside the stick is a quite flexible core to which a thin layer of quite soft padding is attached. The entire stick is covered in very soft, black nappa leather. There is a fold covering up the seam running along the shaft on one side. On the lower third of the shaft a hand loop is attached. The bottom of the stick is covered by some form of plastic cap.

This toy has two sides to it: The pain side and the sensual side which work together very well. Even though this toy is lightweight through the padding and flexible the pain sensation is mainly thuddy. Don’t get fooled by the padding, due to the flexible construction you can put a lot of power into the strokes creating quite sever pain. The skin coloring is surprisingly light so you can work a limited area for quite some time before it colors for an extended period of time.

The sensual side is ideal for getting the fantasy of the sub going or for taking a carrot-and-stick approach. Because of the length of the dressage stick a top can easily walk around a kneeling sound, letting the tip of the stick travel above his skin – either with the soft, warm leather end or the harder, colder plastic one. Both side are smooth enough for creating goose bumps.

This introduction to the toy is especially effective when the sub is blindfolded and doesn’t know what awaits him. I haven’t seen a toy like this around anywhere else so on numerous occasions I had a sub expecting a baton due to the shape or a slim paddle due to the leather. The surprise when the impact is different from what they have expected is great.

What this toy is NOT is being a baton. It might look like a leather version of an old British one but it is simply is too flexible for detaining or chocking someone who is really fighting against it. I have tried it once and had to stop it because I feared to break the toy. If you have actually tried it out, please send me a mail how it went.

As some of you remember this toy was a desiderate last Christmas season. So I was more than happy when my boyfriend remembered it and gave it to me as a birthday gift this March.

Construction

This paddle resembles very much the McHurt Mini Bat which I reviewed some time ago. It is approx. 30cm long and 4,5cm wide at the widest part. Due to the padding it is nearly 10mm thick. At the bottom a leather hand loop is attached with a rivet.

The construction is a two-layer one: the one layer is made out of a very high quality, lightly taned thick and quite sturdy smooth leather (telling from the grain I guess it is bull hide). The other one is made out of soft, untreated suede which feels like velvet. The suede covers a firm yet soft layer of padding and a piece of spring steel.

The build quality is frankly one of the best I have seen on a BDSM toy: The stitching is done painstaking, the leather of the two layers matcher accurately. You can tell that this toy is made by a passionate saddler.

You can get this toy in three variations: black smooth leather/ black suede, black smooth leather/ red suede and black lacquered leather/ black suede. There was an all lacquer version when I saw this toy first in December so I guess you can also get this exterme yet stylish looking version.

Playing with it

I love this paddle for its versatility. First, there is the suede side. Three factors help to make the impact sensation surprisingly thuddy for such a small, light toy: The padding and the flexibility of the paddle which absorb some kinetic energy and the velvety suede surface which creates small air cushions baffles the impact a bit. Because the initial impact is softer and the pain is caused in deeper regions of the body, this side colors a bit less than the other. Second, there is the smooth side. It delivers a stingy sensation but is milder than p.e. the Mini Bat through the higher flexibility. You have to put more power into each blow to create a comparable sting. Yet this side colors the skin fairly quickly without wearing your sub out too quickly.

I had a chance to play with the lacquered version at Demask. It is beautiful to look at but the surface is simply hard and stings like hell! So if you are looking for a true carrat and a stick kind of session this is the toy you want to own.

Overall this toy is very well balanced. Neither any top testing it not me were tired out after a long spanking session. Thanks to the two very different sides and the ability to precisely control the intensity of the sensations you can have quite elaborate session with just one toy.

One problem is the cleaning of this toy: The soft surface can be cleaned quite easily with most disinfection agents. But a word of warning is in place: Because that surface is not treated as much as on other leather paddle I wouldn’t let it stay on there too long. The suede side is quite difficult to clean. Like the leather on flogger tails it has to stay soft so aggressive disinfection sprays or conditioning can harm it. I clean this side like I clean my floggers: Lying in the sun for about 10 days. This also means that you shouldn’t spank your sub until his skin breaks with the suede side. A sub once didn’t tell me that he just shaved his balls with a straight razor before a scene. I spanked his nuts and he started to bleed. I could clean the blood off before it dried but it was a pain in the ass (and not in a good way).

Thuddy impact toy special

Earlier this year I had a ball toy special which was very well received by you. Chastity Experiment Day 6: Normal Everyday Life – Sort of

Free at last! After I have written this week’s review I took off the Bon4 Metal Chastity cage. First of all: Thanks to Mister B for giving it to me for review purposes. It was a quite… interesting experience.

As I already wrote in the review this is the first chastity cage which actually fit me. A couple of years ago I bought others, mainly just out of curiosity. I never found the thought of someone having control over my dick very compelling. Just as I am a pain pig -maybe a sub – but never a slave who seeks to surrender control longer than the duration of a scene (well, in most of the cases but that is a different story). So I finally got to get rid of that curiosity.

What surprised me most of all this week was how comfortable it was to wear. After I got used to something a bit heavy and strong hanging between my legs, I forgot most of the time that I was in chastity. There was a bit fear that other people might notice what I was wearing but as I have seen yesterday even when wearing tight clothes the unsuspicious eye doesn’t notice anything.

When I interacted with the cage, it was also a nice experience: As most men I randomly play around with my dick when I am sitting around in sweatpants or gym shorts while reading or doing stuff on the computer. When I reached into my pants the last couple of days I found something strong, with body temperature which felt kind of smooth because the edges are rounded so well. I know, nothing beats playing around with your own dick but it came close enough for me to emotionally satisfy me. Also cleaning was very easy thanks to the large holes. What I had to give up was pissing while standing – at least in restrooms. I wouldn’t have been embarrassed to show my dick in chastity but with my dick not filling the cage completely when it was soft the liquid splashed around too much while pissing.

Another thing I noticed was how comfortable it was to get a boner. As I have written on Thursday my dick didn’t rage against the steel but stayed a bit soft. After the “unsuccessful” erection Thursday morning my sexual activity somewhat declined. I was getting less horny over the day and never felt the urge to jerk off. That showed me how much of a commodity jerking of sometimes it to me. When I am bored or just need to take my mind of stuff while working on a paper p.e. I just rub one out. After the cage had become so familiar after about three days these were the only instances when I really was reminded that I was in chastity.

Over the 7 day experiment I have never tried to break out of the cage. I have to admit it probably would have been possible to pull my dick out below the ring and stuff it back after I came. I guess with a tighter ring that would have been a problem but that would have made wearing it for such a long time problematic. Maybe Bon4 needs to develop screw-in (dull) spikes which look a bit like the insert you could get for the CB-series of CB-X to make breaking out more difficult. The importance of this “flaw” depends on what you are looking for in a chastity device: A really secure way to keep the sub from jerking off can probably only be achieved by a (nearly) custom piece like from Steel Worxx or Latowski. But as inexpensive yet good device for starter or a reminder of the dedication and promise to the top the Bon4 Metal Chastity cage is the best product on the market I have seen so far.

Concluding I have to say: Chastity hasn’t become a new, major kink of mine; maybe because it was more of an in vitro experiment without a key holder. But knowing that there is a toy out there that fits me and that I can wear without a problem for an extended period of time is good to know if the right guy comes along with which I would key holding with.
