E-Stim Systems Pebble

The E-Stim Systems Pebble Power Box

Vendor: E-Stim Systems

After I reviewed the E-Stim Systems Helix in this year’s E-Stim Special in the spring, I literally got inundated with questions regarding the Pebble. The folks at E-Stim Systems were kind enough to provide me with a review sample so here are my testee panel’s condensed thoughts and experiences with the Pebble.

Construction

The Pebbles design is quite distinct for an e-stim power box: With its convex sides it has an almost hand axe like shape which rests really well in the top’s hand. The back, the top and the bottom are made out of the same high quality, sturdy black polymer all E-Stim Systems’ power boxes are made out of. The convex sides are covered in a rubberized soft-touch material for even better grip. The box is 117mm long, 24mm high and measures 78mm at the widest point. The panel at the front side features two 3.5mm sockets and the power switch in the middle. Behind the power switch the microphone is located.

The upper part of the control panel on top of the box is also symmetrically laid out. On the left and on the right are the rotary controls for controlling the intensity of the two channels. Above them is a blue LED which is on when the channel fires. Between the two intensity controls is the “Adjust” rotary control for manipulating the program’s sensation. Below these controls on the left side are two soft-touch buttons labeled with arrows up and down. They are for the program selection. On the right side next to the buttons are the 9 programs names with a blue LED next to them which flashes in a unique pattern for each program (see below).

The E-Stim Systems Pebble with the Entire Box Content

The box is powered by a standard 9V block battery which’s compartment is on the bottom. So if the battery runs out of power you can replace it easily and quickly during the scene.

Like all E-Stim Systems Premium Products the Pebbles has a lifetime warranty. It comes like all power boxes in a black carrying case lined with foam. If you cut the foam a bit on your own, there is plenty of space for some basic electrodes. Out of the box the Pebble comes with a detailed manual, a battery, 4 pad electrodes and two 3.5mm jack to 2mm pin plug leads. While I can understand the choice so you can out of the box connect the box to the pad electrode it is still a bit annoying because most E-Stim Systems electrodes are laid out for 4mm banana plugs (for more detailed information of the carrying case’s content, read my unboxing).

Playing with the Pebble Power Box

After turning the box on there is a 4se self-test during which the program LEDs flash after each other from the bottom to the top. Then the LEDs go on according the current battery status. If only half the LEDs are on, you should consider replacing the battery. The Pebble will only start firing a channel when a program is selected by pressing the arrow buttons. After the selection it takes between 2 and 4 seconds until the program is activated. Once the program is activated the 9 LEDs flash in a unique pattern. This is a bit annoying because you have to memorize which pattern is associated with which program in order to figure out which is currently active.

Program Name Sensation Adjust Effect Flashing Pattern
Pulse Single pulses simultaneously on both channels Speed of pulses Single LED, moving upwards in the speed of the pulses
Flo Wave-Form Making the wave’s sensation stingier Single LED moving up and down
Split Wave-form on left channel, pulse on right channel Speed of pulses on right channel Two LEDs converging towards the middle, a step after the bottom one blinked
Bounce A pulse alternating between left and right channel Alternation speed One LED converging alternating towards the middle and back
Audio Channels fire corresponding to audio input Microphone sensitivity Outgoing from the middle LED the LEDs light up corresponding to the sound’s intensity like an equalizer display
Milk Pulses which frequency first increases and then decreases again Cycle length Two LEDs converging towards the middle and going back corresponding to the pulses’ speed
Squeeze Pulses which increase in speed until max and start again Cycle length Two LEDs converging towards the middle corresponding to the pulses’ speed
Tease Continuous output which changes from soft to stingy and back Cycle length Two LEDs moving from the middle to both ends and start over
Torment Continuous output which changes from soft to stingy and starts again Cycle length Two LEDs converge towards the middle, pause the and move outward again

Detail of the Front Side Panel and the Soft-Touch Grip sections on the Side

Like the Helix the Pebble is an analogue box so the basic feel is very smooth but depending on the program can become quite stingy. Especially for beginners I recommend staying at the smoother side of the possible sensations because the sting of cheap e-stim units drives most rookies away. Still the Pebble packs enough punch for experienced players. The programs range from the basic (Flo and Pulse) to elaborate ones (Tease & Torment) which leave enough room to explore different play scenarios even for more experienced e-stim doms.

Like almost all build-in microphones of e-stim units it is not that great and sensitive. But the Pebble – unlike its big brother – doesn’t have a microphone line-in. So if you want to use the audio feature, place the power switch directly in front of the audio source for a good and detailed input.

Example of the Flashing Patterns indicating the Selected Program

So, compared to the Helix, where does the Pebble stand? My honest opinion is, there actually is no real reason to buy the Helix when the Pebble is available. With 5 more programs and dual output for just £40 more, the Pebble offers a better value for the money in my opinion. However, if you know that you only like stimulation in one place, like to threat your sub with the “Fire” button usage or are looking for more control over the program the Helix is the box for you. But from my experience, having talked with dozens of people venturing into e-stim, most people enjoy the possibilities of dual channel stimulation. So even if you are starting out in e-stim, I would recommend the Pebble and if you want to dive even deeper into this form of play and want the features described above, buy the Helix as your second box.

Conclusion: Basic yet versatile beginner’s power box with good value for money.

Unboxing the E-Stim Systems Pebble

When it comes to e-stim the most reader questions are actually about power boxes. There are so many different ones out there it is hard to figure out which it the right one for you. So ever since E-Stim Systems launched their new mid-range Pebble a stream of questions about it kept coming in. E-Stim Systems was kind enough to send me one of their new power boxes and I will review it later this year.

The Carrying Case of the E-Stim Systems Pebble

First let me show you what is stored inside the nifty black carrying case it comes in.

The E-Stim Systems Pebble

The most important part is the power box itself. It measures roughly 116x77x38mm and has convex sides so it fits and rests well inside a hand. The controls are symmetrically laid out: On top there are three rotary controls. The left and right for intensity of the corresponding channel and the one in the middle to modify the sensation of the selected program. Below them are two soft touch buttons to shift through the 9 programs. Next to them on the right is a list of the 9 possible channels with a blue LED next to it which is on when the channel is selected.

The Battery every Pebble comes with

The Pebble can only be powered by battery and is comes with a Duracel Industrial 9V battery which is actually my choice of batteries to power my e-stim boxes.

Two 3.5mm Jack to 2mm Pin Plug Leads

Since the Pebble is a dual channel box it comes with two 150cm long 3.5mm jack to 2mm pin plug leads. Two 2mm pin plug leads make sense because the Pebble comes with…

With the 4 Pad Electrodes you can have Fun right out of the Box

… 4 pad electrodes to have fun right out of the box. However since most of E-Stim Systems accessories’ sockets are for 4mm banana plugs I would have wished for at least one of those leads.

The Pebble Comes with a Nifty Quick Start Guide and Information on the Lifetime Guarentee

To get you started right out of the box, the Pebble comes with a handy Quick Guide. It is also useful when you hand the box to a top who doesn’t know the box yet. Though he then has to try the different programs through trial and error…
There is also a post card informing you about the life time guarantee which E-Stim Systems provides all his power boxes with.

The Pebble’s Manual

Last but not least there is the informative manual.

The E-Stim Systems Pebble with the Entire Box Content

The Pebble has been sparked so much interest I was barely able to give it a short test run on myself until one member of my testee panel “demanded” it for a thorough test drive. He is in the market for a power box and wants to get an educated opinion.

ToyTortures Top 10 Toys: E-Stim System Electrodes

The Electrode Disassambled into its Five Parts

It’s only the third episode of this miniseries and I am already breaking its rules: Today I am not going to talk about one but two toys: The E-Stim System Medium Classic bipolar insertable electrode and their conductive rubber loops.

As its name already tells this bipolar anal (or for the few female readers vaginal) electrode is the most classic of E-Stim System’s premium insertable range. All electrodes from this collection share the same great qualities: They are well built out of premium materials, easy to clean, come with a lifetime warranty and through their layout can create the sensation of getting fucked with a wave-shape program. I like these electrodes so much that I actually own five of them but I like the Classic best. With its domed head and diameter of only 25mm inserting it is easy. The Medium has the perfect length for me and actually most of my friends so when sitting down on it the electrode presses against the prostate. So in addition to the e-stim stimulation there is the physical stimulation. The e-stim sensation can even be enhanced when using the Classic’s head as a monopole and a pad electrode on the taint as the counter pole so the currency zapps right through the prostate.

A Pair of E-Stim System Cock Loops

On several occasions I called conductive rubber loops THE e-stim electrode. Small, easy to use and to clean it is a good example how a simple toy can be one of the best. Put one loop around the base of the dick, the other around the balls and later the currency will squeeze the cum out of the ball when jerking off. Put one of them below the glans and with some training and the right program you can learn to cum hands free. For a real anal novice one can work as an anal monopole, the loops can be used for sensation play. Once used these loops stimulate creativity and the play instinct and that is what a good toy should do.

The E-Stim System Medium Classic cost £47. I reviewed the premium insertable several times so if you want to learn more about them here are the reviews of the Classic, Micro and Magnum, the Torpedo’s review and in the latest I talked about their new satin surface finish on the Stuffer. The conductive rubber loops cost £29 per pair and you can learn all about them in my in-depth review. Interested in e-stim play in general? Read my E-Stim 101!

E-Stim Systems ElectroEgg

The E-Stim Systems ElectroEgg Size Large

Vendor: E-Stim Systems

Construction

The E-Stim Systems ElectroEgg is a bi-polar e-stim toy. Both poles are very short cylinders with domed ends made out of mirror-polished aircraft grade aluminum. They are separated by a polymer divider in the middle which color-codes the size. On one end there is a 130cm long cable with a 3.5mm audio jack at the end. The cable is designed for pull up to 12kg.

The ElectroEgg comes in three sizes.

Size Diameter Length Weight Divider Color
Small 30mm 41mm 70g Magenta
Medium 38mm 60mm 153g Red
Large 50mm 73mm 301g Black

Like all E-Stim Systems premium anal electrodes it comes with a lifetime warranty.

Playing with the ElectroEgg

Getting play ready is easy: Lube up the ElectroEgg all around with water based (conductive) lube and gently push it against the sphincter until it opens up and swallows the electrode. As always when it comes to metal anal toys choose a size which is smaller than the diameter you can take with vinyl or silicone toys because the metal will not give in. Another important piece of advice is that you must not put a condom over the egg. Some tops put condoms over their anal toys when they use it on multiple partners but the latex will prevent conductivity. Being made out of metal and high quality polymer when cleaned properly there is no chance of a STD transmission.

Detail of the Power Cable and the 3.5mm audio jack

The ElectroEgg is the only bi-polar electrode I know off which gets inserted completely into the ass and thus stimulated the colon instead of the anus. The colon is an intriguing spot to apply stimulation because it has a very high density of nerve endings as well as muscles. The sensation the ElectroEgg creates of cause depend on the program of the power box but it’s the only anal electrode I have come across that ever created a dragging sensation or triggered muscles movements and sensations well into the thighs. Especially with the nimble small ElectroEgg combining (deep) fisting with e-stim is a unique sensation that will blow your mind! Since unexpected muscle reflexes can be triggered by e-stim the top should be prepared for the fisting to be a bit different than he is used to.

Speaking of size and weight: The ElectroEgg is also fun without e-stim in everyday situations. Putting it inside the colon and going for a walk or working out will cause the more or less heavy metal object to move inside the colon which triggers the never endings or stimulates the prostate. One of the testing tops made his sub perform jumping jacks… Of cause if you combine the electrode with a remote controlled power box this even adds to the fun…

The ElectroEgg Disassamble for Cleaning

When the top is careful with the cable and wears an isolating glove the ElectroEgg can also be used as a skin electrode by being rolled over the skin. The effect is like using a bi-polar pinwheel but through the larger mass and contact area the sensations are way smoother.

As written above E-Stim Systems says that the cable can withstand pull up to 12kg. However I would not recommend to pull it out of the ass alone but just use light pulling as support when pressing it out. A sphincter can hold onto things with way greater power than 12kg so there is a chance you can damage the cable if you just pull.

Once outside you can screw both halves apart was them in hot soapy water, let them dry properly and finally spray your preferred sanitizer on it before screwing them together again.

Conclusion: One of a kind bi-polar electrode which creates unknown stimulation.

E-Stim Systems Helix

Vendor: E-Stim Systems

The E-Stim System Helix

I often get asked “Which is a good and safe e-stim box to start with?” For years E-Stim Systems Series 1 was the most inexpensive of the premium boxes. In March this year they launched the Helix as a replacement. I was very glad when they sent me a review sample for the E-Stim Special to finally be able to bring you a review on the lower end of the price range.

Construction

The Helix measures measures 111x67x28mm and thus is still one of the more compact boxes available. The case is made out of a high quality, sturdy black polymer. On the front of the box is the power switch and the output socket for 3.5mm jack.

The top of the box is the control panel. On left there is a small blue LED which fleshes when the box fires. Below are three rotary controls for the intensity level of the stimulation, one to alter the feel and one to alter the speed of the stimulation. Below the controls there are five LEDs which indicate the selected program. Below them there are two buttons: The one on the left is called “Fire”. When you press it in Fire mode an intensity burst is fired. When holding the button down while turning the box on the output level increases significantly. The right button is for shuffling through the programs.

The box is powered by a standard 9V block battery which’s compartment is on the bottom. So if the battery runs out of power you can replace it easily and quickly during the scene.

Detail of the Power Button, the Output Socket and the Three Controls

The Helix comes in a high quality and nifty nice black carrying case along with a detailed manual, a lead, four pad electrodes and a battery (For detailed pictures take a look at my unboxing). As all the E-Stim Systems Premium Products the Helix comes with a lifetime warranty.

Playing with the Helix Power Box

To get the Helix play ready push the power button and wait for the short self test which also checks the battery. If less than half the LEDs flash you should replace the battery. Connect the lead to an electrode and the box and attach the electrodes to the sub. Then select your desired mode. The Helix will always start up to the pulse mode. Finally slowly start turning the level control clockwise until the sub starts to feel something. Being an analogue box you can very finely control the box with the rotary controls.

Program Name Sensation Feel Alteration Speed Alteration
Pulse Sensation pulses Makes the pulses’ sensation sharper Frequency of the pulses
Flo Continuous output Makes the sensation sharper No effect
Fire Continuous output when the fire button is pressed Makes the sensation sharper No effect
Milk Pulse waves with increasing and decreasing speed Makes the sensation sharper Wave length control
Tease Random sensation Range and amount of pattern change

Since the Helix is an analogue box the sensation is silky smooth – if you don’t adjust the level and feel to be otherwise. This makes this box good for beginners because the sharp and almost excruciating sensation of cheaper box drive many people away from e-stim. The five programs cover the basic range of possible e-stim sensations from a light and arousing tingling over milking to extremely challenging pain. And despite the relatively price point the Helix produces enough output to be interesting to experience players, especially in the high intensity mode.

Detail of the Battery Compartment

It is only in the features you realize that it is a beginner’s box: It only has one output channel and not extra inputs like a microphone or motion sensor. But if you just want to get a first glimpse into e-stim or need an additional box with a fire button to control your sub, this box offers great value for an attractive price.

While the pad electrodes of the basic set are good for first dip into e-stim, I recommend investing the £10 more for the Helix Blue which comes with a set of conductive rubber loops (which I consider an e-stim essential as you can read here).

Conclusion: Basic yet versatile beginner’s power box with good value for money.

E-Stim Systems Helix Unboxing

One of the most commonly asked questions when it comes to E-Stim is: Which box to start out with? Naturally I was excited when E-Stim Systems sent me their new entry level power box to review in the E-Stim special. The review will follow tomorrow, today is just a quick overview what you get when buying the box.

The Helix comes in a sturdy, black carrying case which measures 270x210x75mm.

Carrying Case of the E-Stim Systems Helix

Inside it is padded with foam which is cut to safely house the power box and accessories. If you expand on the amount of electrodes but still want to use the nifty carrying case I recommend taking the foam out and replacing it with cubed foam which you can easily customize.

The most prominent item in the box is obviously the Helix power box itself. The easy to use box has a power button, a fire button and three rotary controls for intensity, altering the sensation and the speed of the stimulation. There also is an LED which fires when sensations are induced and an indicator which one of the five programs is selected. Like all their premium products the Helix comes with a lifetime warrenty.

The E-Stim Systems Helix

There is one lead with 3.5mm plug to 2mm pin connector for…

… connecting the Helix with the four self-adhesive conductive pads which come with the box.

The box is powered by a standard 9V block battery, one of which comes with the box for instantaneous fun with the pads right when you get it.

Obviously the box comes with a manual – which embarrassingly I have misplaced. It explains the functions and the five programs very well. For a first sneak peek into the box’s potential you can download it here.

The here shown most basic package of the Helix costs £109 but there is also the Blue Pack which comes with a pair of conductive rubber loops for £119 or the Red Pack with one of their infamous bipolar Eggs for £129.

E-Stim Systems Stuffer

Vendor: E-Stim Systems

The E-Stim Systems Stuffer Bipolar Anal Electrode

The E-Stim Systems Premium Bi-Polar Anal Electrodes have been getting rave reviews from me since I started reviewing them. So when they asked if I wanted to take a look at their new surface treatment I was al for it – and discovered another major improvement.

Construction

With the basic from like a butt plug the Stuffer is shaped like any other toy from the E-Stim Systems Torpedo Range. The head has a diameter of 6.25mm and a length of 9cm. It takes 3cm from the tip to reach the maximum diameter so this plug is rather dull. The neck has a diameter of 38mm and is 22mm. Both the head and base which is 40mm long taper towards the neck for a more comfortable fit. For easier grip while playing the base features four grooves. With an overall length of 152mm you get a lot of metal which results into a total weight if 955g.

The material and production quality it top notch! The screw connecting the top and the bottom is stainless steel and the plastic is quite sturdy. The piece de resistance is the aircraft grade aluminum the head and the base is made out of. In March E-Stim Systems introduced a new surface treatment which give their anal electrodes a more even, satin like matt finish which liooks great.

Left: An E-Stim Systems Large Torpedo with the Previous Finish
Right: E-Stim Systems Stuffer with the New Finish

E-Stim Systems so convinced by their build quality that they give a lifelong warranty and having been using these kind of electrodes extensively for almost 5  years I have to agree. Even the plastic hasn’t aged. Yet there is a drop of bitterness with the combination of the aluminum head and the stainless steel screw: Since the screw is harder than the material the thread is cut into, if you tighten the screw too tight too often the thread will get a bit dull. With my old electrodes this made unscrewing both parts a bit difficult. But E-Stim Systems fitted the Stuffer with a hexagon socket at the bottom of the screw so you can now use a hex key for easier unscrewing.

Speaking of screw and thread, for easy cleaning this toy is made out of five individual pieces: Through the base a hole is drilled. Into this hole a plastic insulator is put into which the screw is put. Onto this screw you put another piece of plastic which forms the neck. On top of this you screw the head of the electrode. Into the base and the connecting threat holes for 4mm banana plugs are drilled. The holes are far enough apart for using low profile plugs so you can comfortably sit on this plug.

Another neat thing is that the toy comes in a nifty and stylish black box that can be adjusted length-wise. So if you don’t store your e-stim toys in them but display them proudly you can store other stuff like clamps in there. I use one of the larger boxes for band-aids and the a thinner one for sounds.

Playing with the Stuffer

Since nothing has changed in the way the Premium Bi-Polar Electrode performs this section is a copy and paste from older reviews of this toy.

First a piece of advice on how to read this section: I will only discuss how the physical properties influence the sensation. The sensation itself depends very much on your e-stim box and the program you select.

Detail of the Hexagonal Socket for Easier Disassembly

When choosing the right electrode before play there are three important things to keep in mind:

  • The Material: Unlike other soft materials like vinyl or silicone most anal toys are made out off aluminum will not yield! So if you can barely fit a 64mm vinyl plug into your ass taking the Stuffer will at least take some training, especially because the dull top makes it hard for the ass to open up. If you sphincter isn’t exceptionally well trained (I am talking taking a fist without much pre-stretching) I highly recommend pre-stretching with softer toys which have steeper slopes. But you will get rewarded with a REALLY stuffed feeling. Especially when walking around that if you walk around and your hole gets loose there is a chance of almost 1kg of metal hitting the floor which isn’t good news for tiles or hardwood floores…
  • The Handling: A lot of people put condoms over their anal toys when switching partners. The condom’s latex layer will at best alter the way the current flows thus might produce unwanted effects, at worst no current will flow at all. But because the metal is easily cleaned and disinfected this isn’t a big issue if you clean your toy thoroughly after using it on one partner. The best way of cleaning this toy is to disassemble it, put it into hot water with a bit of detergent added to it. Scrub with a soft brush, rinse the water off and let the parts dry. Once they are, spray your preferred sanitizer on them and assemble them again once dried.
  • The Lubrication: When it comes to lube I would always recommend water-based lube. The glycerin in the lube will help the current flow from the metal to the skin. A thick layer of silicone lube can produced unwanted effects.
  • There are specialized electro lubes out there but in my opinion they are overrated. For my sessions I use Swiss Navy water based lube. It keeps it gliding properties for a long period of time and transmits current very well.

The E-Stim Systems Stuffer Disassembled for Easy Cleaning

When it comes to e-stim a good rule of thumb when it comes to the sensation is !the larger the mass and contact area of the electrode the smoother the sensation”. Since this is the heaviest and larges anal bi-pole I own the sensation was as expected silky smooth. But unlike the other electrodes the mass difference between the base and the head is so large that the sensation is nearly only felt at the base. It was a weird, hard to describe feeling putting the stroke program on. Usually this created a fucking sensation. This time… it was not bad just different than expected.

Of cause you can also use the electrode also as a monopole. Just plug one banana plug into the anal electrode and the other one onto another electrode, a pin wheel or a rubber loop for example.

Conclusion: High quality bi-polar anal electrode for real ass pigs.

Anal Toys 101

Finding the right anal toy and keeping it in good shape so it lasts for a long time can be a bit of a challenge. In this 101 I talk about what to consider when buying an anal toy and how to care for it properly.

Buyer’s Guide to Anal toys

There are many aspects to consider when choosing an anal toy. Especially when you are buying your first one and have not developed personal preferences yet, giving each aspect some thought is a good idea because a good anal toy is quite an investment. But if chosen wisely will bring you fun for years to come.

Material

Deciding out of which material your new anal toy is going to be made is the first step when choosing it because the material properties impact many relevant aspects of anal play.

Material composition

This is the most important aspect of choosing a toy. In the old days before EU regulations and custom testing imported goods, toys which I would not have recommended to put up your butt were widely available!

The inside of your colon is basically one big mucosal that will happily absorb whatever the lube (especially water-based lube) washes out of the toy’s material. Thus I recommend only purchasing toys which are manufactured in the EU or USA where dangerous plasticizers like phthalates or lead as a catalytic agent for silicone are forbidden. Just to be safe look for the label “Platinum Silicone” or “Phthalates Free” when choosing a toy. At the end of Buyer’s Guide there is a list of manufacturers I personally source from if you want a recommendation.

Lube

Not every lube can be used with every material. Some lubes will actually cause to disintegrate your toy. Thus depending on your lube preferences you have to choose the toy material.

The following chart shows which lube can generally speaking be safely used with which material. Of cause individual material composition can lead to unexpected effects. If you want to err on the side of safety only use water-based lube.

The Square Peg Charlie Horse Wiggly in Supersoft Bronze from Regulation

Firmness & Surface Smoothness

While glass, metal and wood are always hard, the plastic ones come in different degrees of firmness. With the latter group the thickness is also influenced by the thickness. The thicker a toy the harder it will feel.

Which degree of firmness is good is depends on the usage situation. For training your ass a softer toy is better because it adjusts a bit to the sphincter. For wearing a toy for an extended period of time a harder material is better because the sphincter will adjust to the form of the toy which is more comfortable in the long run. Also with hard surfaces the likelihood of skin folds and thus a pinching sensation decreases.

The firmness also impacts the structural integrity. The firmer the toy the easier it will stand up by itself. This is especially important then you want to ride or sit on a toy. If it is too soft, it will collapse.

Furthermore the surface structure is important. The smoother the surface the easier the toy glides in and the easier it will be to clean.

Pervertables

A quick word on pervertables: There are wooden, metal and glass objects which are not made for anal play but are being used for it, most prominently baseball bats or batons. Before inserting them into your rectum make sure they are deburred and 100% smooth! Especially which with wood it is imperative that is has a sanded and treated surface! Getting a splinter into your colon is always a reason to rush to the ER! As for glass objects, especially vases and bottles: Keep them out of your ass! The glass used to anal toys is a special type of glass that almost never breaks and glass anal toys are always solid. The injuries caused by shards of broken glass inside your rectum can be lethal!

The Bolder Stoll Doll from Regulation

Toy Form Factor

There are two major form factors: Dildos, which are compared to their thickness relatively long shafts with a tapered ending for easier insertion, and plugs, which are shorter and between the maximum diameter and the base taper again so they can stay inside the butt.

Dildos

Dildos are probably the oldest sex toys humans invented. Stone penises as old as 28.000 years have been excavated. They induce a friction sensation on the nerve endings inside the sphincter while sliding in and out and at best hit the prostate. Depending on the glans’ shape there can be some stretching sensation.

Dildos come in two varieties. The first one are realistic dildos. They mimic the penis shape of humans, animal or anthropomorphic beings. This means the shaft is textured with veins which intensify the friction and thus the sensation. At the bottom end most of the them feature a base shaped like balls. The second variety are shape dildos. They are bullet or torpedo shaped and lack natural texturing.

The Square Peg Depth Probe from Regulation

Somewhere between dildos and plugs are shape dildos which consist of a series of bulges. The most extreme form of this form are anal beads. They are a series of balls connected by a string or a tubes which are inserted into the ass and then slowly pulled out. Of cause these toys aim to create a stretching sensation rather than a friction one.

A special form of dildos are so call depth trainers, also commonly called colon snakes. They are long (at least 35cm long), made out of flexible materials and don’t have much texture; a depth indication scale at most. They are designed to seduce the second sphincter to gradually open up to prepare for deep fisting.  Since this sphincter is not used to physical stimulation and unlike the anus can’t be relaxed purposefully, training it takes some time. So don’t rush it!

The Oxballs Pig Hole Deep from Mr S

Plugs

The shape of a butt plugs is best compared to the bottom half of a sand clock. From the tip they gradually increase in diameter and then – depending on the plug – either taper again or go directly into a short neck which is attached to a base. Through the gradually increasing diameter the main sensation of plugs is a stretching one.  So plugs are good to slowly accustom to and train the sphincter to a certain diameter.

A special form of plugs are hollow or tunnel plugs. Their outside form is like a butt plug but instead of being solid they have hole in the middle. Through the opening in the middle the tip is dull. So even if you can take the maximum diameter of the plug you might not be able to take it or only after a long pre-stretching. The hole is useful for many things. Through it lube or other liquids can be poured or the closing function of the sphincter can temporarily be taken away. The plug also protects the nerve endings in the sphincter from friction. Thus hollow plugs are especially useful in combination with depth trainers. Such plugs shield the anus from the friction sensation allowing the bottom to focus on what is happening at his second sphincter. When the tunnel plug is made out of a stretchy material (and is large enough) it can be used to fist through it making a formally too small interesting again or put it over a standard butt plug to increase its size.

With the increasing popularity of pet play there is a growing market of tail plugs. Instead of a base an appendix mimicking the look of an animal’s tail (most common are dog and pig tails) is attached to the plug’s body.  When choosing a tail keep two things in mind: Don’t buy a too small plug section because if it slides in too easily it will also slide out easily causing you to lose the tail when walking or wagging. Furthermore the mass ration between the plug and the tail should not be too much off. The center of gravity should be at the plug otherwise there is also the danger of the tail popping out easily. Tails are also popular with switchers not into pet play. When fucking somebody the tail will develop an momentum which is transferred to the plug section which than stimulates the prostate.

Finding the Right Size & Form

The following factors determined first if you will be able to take the anal toy and second how much you will enjoy it.

The Domestic Partner Crack Attack from Regulation

Maximum Diameter

Usually 3cm to 4cm is a good size to start out anal play. As you progress to bigger toys I recommend going up in steps of 1cm to 1.5cm increased maximum diameter. This is enough of a challenge yet you get the satisfaction of conquering the toy after a couple of days to weeks depending on how thoroughly you train. I know that this is costly by trying to get a toy in for weeks and always failing is very frustrating!

Slope

The slope of a toy defines how quickly the diameter from the tip on increases.

Even though the sphincter at the anus can somewhat voluntarily be relaxed it still is a muscle humans cannot control completely. It needs to be seduced to open up and in order to establish a certain training level actually carefully (!) stretched like every other muscle. Thus generally speaking steeper slopes are better because they allow the sphincter to open up more gradually. Especially when you are a novice stay away from toys with large dull tips because it will just press against the sphincter and it won’t open up. But even with a well-trained ass you will encounter toys that diameter wise are not really a challenge yet you won’t be able to take due to a weird slope. Sadly there now way to know before the purchase with which toys this is going to be the case so please be prepared for one or two useless purchases.

At butt plugs there are two slopes to look it: First the one before the maximum diameter which I just talked about. The second one is the one behind it. It defines how easily the toy comes out again. When you want to train your sphincter a steep slope is preferable. Once inside you can slowly fuck yourself with the plug, enjoying the stretching sensation. If you want to wear the plug for an extended period of time a duller to non-existing slope is preferable because it makes involuntarily popping out more difficult. However please keep in mind: When keeping a plug in, the “warm-up” effect of pushing it in slowly fades so seducing your sphincter to open up and release the plug becomes increasingly more difficult when keeping it in for long.

The Square Peg Happy Hour from Mr S

Position of Widest Diameter

Especially when you progress in training the position of the widest diameter becomes an important aspect to keep in mind. If you stick with a steep slope and increase the diameter the location of the maximum diameter moves further away from the tip so you have to insert more length for the maximum stretch. Since the colon is a quite small body cavern you might not reach the neck or even the maximum diameter. From a psychological point of view this is bad when training because inserting a toy completely fills you with a sense of accomplishment and giving you an opportunity to rest. This is usually a boost of eagerness to train further. Constantly failing on a plug is quite demotivating.

Texture

The texture describes the surface of a toy beyond the material properties (see: Firmness & Surface Smoothness). Since texture increases the friction of a toy it makes the insertion more difficult. So a textured toy with a diameter you usually take easily might not fit afterall.

In the section about natural dildos I have already briefly talked about natural texturing. They comprise of veins, the molded glans and foreskin and when we look at anthropomorphic toys scales, etc.

Detail of the Convex Shape and the Heavily Textured Surface of Apollo the Chimera

On shape dildos and plugs these three texture patters can be found (in ascending order of intensity): Groves, bumps and ridges. Which form delivers the best sensation is very individual. But a good rule of thumb is: the higher the texture is risen the stronger the stimulation. This of cause means that these toys are meant for play when the hole is already relaxed and well played with so it is not about the stretching (sensation) but about teasing the nerves in the sphincter. Please keep in mind that this form of play can wear out an ass quickly so be prepared for the scene to end rather sooner than later.

Extra Features

Sometimes toys come with extra features for a more intense or varied play. The most commonly found extra are sucktion cups. They enable you to temporarily securely attach the toy to a smooth surface (tiles are best for it) using vacuum. This is nifty feature when you really want to ride at toy so it doesn’t slip away.

For training the sphincter or creating a feeling of being stuffed without being able to take large diameters inflatable toys are useful. Once inserted you can pump them up in order to increase the diameter. I recommend buying only inflatable toys with a solid core for easier insertion.

Detail of the Base with Suction Cup Feature

A less commonly found feature are cum tubes. At the tip of the toy there is a small opening onto which a tube is attached. At the end of this tube is a syringe filled with a cum like lube. If you pus the end of the syringe the cum is getting splashed into the colon simulating an ejaculation. As nifty and unique as this sensation might be, a cum tube makes cleaning and drying of the toy more difficult.

For added stimulation some anal toys feature a vibrating function. When you are using quite hard toys this sensation can also be achieved by pressing a magic wand against the toy’s base. Another added stimulation is e-stim. Please refer to my in-depth review of e-stim plugs here for more information.

Personal Recommendations

This is a highly subjective, certainly not complete list of brand and retailers where good anal toys can be found. From these I source my anal toys from because I trust them for their product safety and quality.

Caring for your Anal Toys

Cleaning & Safer Sex

From a Safer Sex point of view a toy should either be used only by one person or covered by a condom. While the first is unlikely if you are having an active “social” life, the latter is unpractical as soon as it comes to toys larger than an L size penis. So cleaning the toys the right way is essential.

To clean your toys after play fill the sink with water between 40°C and 50°C, add dish soap and let the toy soak for approx. 15 minutes. I recommend using dish soap without perfume or lotion because these additives are bad for rubber and some PVCs. If you have used very thick water based lube add salt to break down the lube. At the soaking scrub the toys with a soft brush and rinse the soap water off. As a first step of sanitizing fill the sink again with hot water, add vinegar-based cleaner (possibly organic because you want to shove the toy up your butt again) and let it soak for a quarter of an hour. The acid in the vinegar will also deal with most of the unpleasant smells. Rinse the toy off and let it dry. Finally spray the toy with a sanitizer. The agents in the sanitizer can make glossy surfaces dull so you might want to try it on the base where the blemished surface is inconspicuous.

With some materials other means of sterilization are also possible once the lube has been washed off.  Metal toys can be flamed or autoclaved; the latter is also possible with high quality silicone toys.

A common question is how to deal with discolored toys. Sadly this effect is irreversible and simply comes with ages of plastic toys. To avoid it, buy only black toys.

Storage

In order to have long lasting fun with your toys keep some simple storage rules in mind. Always clean the toys after using them. The lube or body fluids otherwise can foster chemical reactions which might harm the toy. The storage place should be dry and well ventilated especially when you are storing toys from different manufacturers or made out of different materials together. The toys must never touch! The different plasticizers used by different manufacturers and materials can cause the toys to dissolve when touching or the air being filled with them. If the process started (an area getting sticky or gooy) it is too late. Sadly the process is irreversible and sooner than later you have to throw away the toy. Especially soft toys should be stored upright (or in case of depth trainers loosely rolled up) otherwise they might get permanent creases.

The E-Stim System Penis Plug

The E-Stim System Penis Plug

Design

As the name of the toy already says it is basically shaped like a butt plug. It has a broad base which is 11mm high and has a diameter of 25mm. Into it two deep groves are milled for good grip even with sweaty fingers. On the one side of this base there is a 4mm hole for your banana plugs. On the other side is the piece which goes into your urethra: On the size S model which I have gotten as a review sample from E-Stim System it is a 44mm long pole of stainless steel. The first 20mm have a diameter of 5.5mm. Then within 12mm the diameter increases to 7.5mm and decreases over the last 12mm to a domed tip with a diameter of 4mm. The Penis Plug is made out of  aicraft grade aluminium so it is light,  has a polished surface and comes in three sizes: S with a maximum head diameter of 7.5 mm, M with 8.5 mm and L with 9.5 mm.

Like nearly all E-Stim System Products the Penis Plug comes in a nice black plastic tube for storage and a manual. The sounds are covered by E-Stim System’s Lifetime Guarantee but being made out of hard stainless steel please hit me up and send me a picture of your toy if you ever need to take advantage of it.

Playing with it

Last week I talked about the E-Stim System UltraSounds which are great but take some effort and concentration when using. If you are not part of the group of people who enjoy dropping the sound into the dick (and doe to the banana plug with a cable  on the end I would strongly discourage you from doing it with an e-stim sound!) you have to hold the sound constantly  in your hand monitoring depth in order not to alter the e-stim sensation. With the Penis Plug, things are different.

Due to the base you can let it slowly let it sink into your dick until the base hits the top of your glans and it will stay in this position. And when I say “let it sink”, I mean it! Applying more than just a little gentle force can lead to serious injuries. Better enjoy the slow stretch which offers a unique sensation. With the a normal sound your urethra stays stretched but with the Penis Plug the urethra closes a bit after the head. Thus the stretching sensation is focused on the largest diameter of the head. The feeling itself is hard to describe; you just have to try it. Of cause this “ring” is pressed the hardest against the skin so the e-stim sensation is felt strongest there.

Like last week’s sounds the Penis Plug is a monopole so you need a counter pole. Again just below the glans, around the penis root or balls are good position. But a really interesting spot is around the part of the penis where the urethra is stretched the most. Subjectively the stimulation felt most intense there.

Since you stick the Penis Plug into your urethra just like a sound the same safety rules apply. So I copy and paste what I wrote last week on lube and cleaning.

The urethra is usually a sterile environment. Introducing germs or bacteria into environment can lead to very nasty and painful infections. Also the mucosa can be easily damaged. In order to address both potential problems always as a top wear disposable gloves and use ample sterile water-based lube. Never use silicone or fat based lube to insert anything into your dick. With normal water-based lube you can be lucky and but I wouldn’t take the chance. There are two types of sterile lube packaging: There are tubes (most commonly know is K-Y lube) which basically as soon as you open then there is the potential of contamination. But still they are better than any “normal” water-based lube. And there are sachets which you can get in medical supply stores e.g. for laying a catheter. One sachet will be more than enough lube than you will need but still: NEVER seal a sachet. Leftovers get disposed! There is a third form of lube: Medical numbing gel mostly containing Lidocaine. It is also sterile and will numb the mucosa. While this makes the sensation of the insertion easier to bear it also prevents you from feeling if anything is wrong so I would not recommend it.

After you have used the sounds clean the lube off in hot soap water and dry them off properly. Than spray them with a sanitizer. In order to be really sure that no harmful organism survived I pull the sound through a lighter torch. Be careful when doing this: First, dry off all sanitizers. Most of them use alcohol and alcohol and fire can lead to nasty surprises. Second, being made out of metal the heat gets disturbed quickly. Don’t burn your fingers.

Conclusion: Well made and easier to use urethra e-stim toy with a unique insertion sensation

The E-Stim System UltraSound Range in the Versions Smooth, Dipstick and Micro

The E-Stim System UltraSound Range in the Versions Smooth, Dipstick and Micro

Today I am reviewing three different versions of the E-Stim System UltraSounds which they send me for the E-Stim Special. While they all have their own design properties they work the same when playing with them.

Design

All UltraSounds are made out of medical grade stainless steel with a polished surface. Their tip is tapered for easy insertion. On the other end there is a hole for a 4mm banana plug and four deep grooves to ensure safe grip even with sweaty fingers.

The smooth range comes in to lengths: The Micro range sounds which are 75mm long and the standard range is 175mm long. In this length you can also have the Dipstick finish. Then there are grooves on the body every 20mm which let you see how deep the sound has already been inserted and they add a bit of stimulation. All three ranges came in diameters of 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm.

Each sound comes in a nice black plastic tube which is great for storing them and a manual. The sounds are covered by E-Stim System’s Lifetime Guarantee though I can’t imagine how you could ever break one of these.

Playing with it

Inserting a sound into somebody’s body as a very hot and intimate form of play. Usually nothing is supposed to enter this part of the body the nerve endings in the urethra are quite sensitive. In order not to injure the delicate area don’t apply to much force when pushing the sound down. Like the second anal sphincter the ability to voluntarily open it up is quite limited so tease and seduce it top open and don’t force it. Because of that, start out with a small sound and if you want to train your dick to take larger ones. The sensation itself is hard to describe. Just try it out. Of cause the “rough” grooves of the Dipstick make it extra interesting by adding a new source of stimulation. Part of the fun is also the mindfuck of knowing and potentially seeing hard steel sinking into you dick. It is a great headspace of vulnerability because the top is in control of one of your most sensitive body areas. That being said the E-Stim System UltraSounds are good sounds just for sounding. With the tapered tip they make their way into the dick with ease.

The real fun starts however when you add the e-stim sensation. Having relatively little mass and contact area in a body area with many nerve endings little intensity is required to produce intense sensations. The contact area is where you can really start to play: Push in the sound a bit deeper to make the sensation less intense, pull it out to make it stronger. This can lead to a hot trade-off game: Deeper (= more uncomfortable sound wise) vs. more intense e-stim sensation. That being said ALWAYS turn your box off when you pull the sound out because the sensation can quickly become excruciating when the contact area is getting smaller. This is especially important when you play with yourself: Once you pull the sound out and you are holding it with your bare fingers there currency will flow through your body (and potentially your heart!) between the counter pole and the tip of the sound you are holing.

As already implied: The e-Stim sounds are all monopoles so you need another pole to create an e-stim sensation. The placing of the pole influences the sensation as bit. If you use a conductive silicone loop around the glans the currency will run up the shaft stimulating the nerve endings on the back of the dick. For a little bit less intense stimulation tie the loop around the base of the dick or the balls. I would not recommend too much distance between the two poles. The longer the distance the greater the chance of running out of cable, involuntarily yanking at it which can lead to unpleasant abrupt movements.
