Sometimes a review encourages more reader questions than I hope it would answered. This was the case almost a year ago when I published my review of three Bad Dragon toys. In the first months I was inundated with e-mails, DMs and messages on Recon and PlanetRomeo asking my opinion on different models, colors, etc. So I got in touch with the guys at Bad Dragon and asked if they would be kind enough to supply me with the three most often inquired about dildos in sizes my fist-savvy testee panel would be interested in. A few weeks later a parcel with an XL Nova, an XL Terra and an L Scorn arrived at my place.

Now, a few months later, they have been thoroughly tested. And since the review is so eagerly anticipated by many readers, I find it fitting to be the first one after my little summer break.

Material

In the past two years silicone has become my personal material of choice when it comes to anal toys. Sadly silicone is a bit difficult to handle so not many toy manufacturers use it to make anal toys. Bad Dragon has been making silicon Dildos since 2008 so they really know what they are doing especially when it comes to their elaborate color designs which getting them right is a challenge of its own. If you want to snatch a little bargain and can live with a little flaw, take a look at their “Flop” section where they sell not-perfect toys with a discount.

Every Bad Dragon anal toy is made out of Platinum silicone. It is called this way because platinum is the catalyst used in making the silicone. Unlike other catalysts like tin, platinum makes the silicone withstand acid and heat.

Silicone is an awesome material for anal toys. Its surface is perfectly smooth which makes taking the toy a bit easier than “rougher” materials. Even more important is the big advantage when it comes to cleaning. Since the silicone is non-porous on a microscopic level bacteria have a hard time to establish themselves. Being resistant to almost everything and heat Bad Dragon toys are best cleaned in hot water with dish-soap or vinegar-based cleaner and then sprayed with a sanitizer. If you want to be completely sure, you can even autoclave them. Since you really and thoroughly can get them clean and sterile they are perfect to be used on multiple partners without having to fear disease transmission – if cleaned properly between usages.

The smoothness comes with a bit of a price though: Especially highly viscose lubes tend run down so I would recommend slicker lubes like Elbow Grease H2O Thick Gel. Since the silicone oil in silicone or hybrid lubes will disintegrate the silicone of the toy, only use water or oil based lube with Bad Dragon toys!

Depending on your personal taste and experience choosing the right firmness is important. Platinum silicone will never be as firm as rubber or vinyl can be. So if you like to torment your ass with brutally forcing toys in (not that I would recommend this kind of play for health and safety reasons…) silicone toys might not be for you. For all the other people Bad Dragon offers three degrees of firmness: Soft, medium and firm, though their XL toys only come in soft and medium (which personally I find a bit of a shame). When ordering for the first time, I recommend ordering their firmness sample package in advance so you get a rough idea how the toy will feel. Though when choosing the firmness, keep in mind: The larger/ ticker a toy, the firmer it will feel. Also: The softer a toys, the easier it will collapse when riding it. I highly recommend the split firmness with a hard base. It gives the toy a firmer stand and makes it easier to grip so it improves the play alone and when a top shoves it up your ass.

A less practical but more aesthetical decision is choosing the right color of the toy. Silicone has the advantage of being easily colorized and usually doesn’t discolor over time. So Bad Dragon – in a time where most anal toys where solid black, red or blue – took toy coloring to an entire new level. Their new website features a configuration tool which lets you play around with almost infinite color and effect combinations. Choosing the right Bad Dragon

Bad Dragon is famous for getting the inspiration for their toys from fantasy creatures, mostly dragons but also werewolves or chimeras for example. So they offer vide variety of shapes, textures, length and diameters (currently 61 different models).

When deciding which dildo to get keeping in mind which diameter you can currently take is a good starting point. Since the designs are proportionally scaled up from S to XL, you have to be also depth experienced to take the full maximum diameter which usually sits right above the base in form of a knot.  When browsing through the different models keep in mind: The softer the material the easier it will be to take (see above). The more textured, the harder it will be to take (see below). But the texture is also the fun part: The sphincter is an area with a high concentration of nerve endings so the texture (more or less) gently teases them, making textured toys more interesting. The heavier the texture, the quicker the ass will be worn out so save heav

ily textured toys for the end of the scene. Putting them at the end has the advantage of the sphincter (hopefully) being relaxed and loose. Riding heavily textured toys too vigorously with a tight sphincter can lead to injuries!

Each dildo can be outfitted with two special features: The suction cup and the cum tube. Unlike suction cups on other toys where a separate cup is attached to the base of the toy, Bad Dragon’s suction cup is integrated into the toy’s base. This not only looks nicer but increases the size of the cup and thus the suction. Also the cup won’t come off when often and heavily used, like I had with other dildos. The suction is so strong that even the large and heavy toys stick to dry, smooth perpendicular surfaces and still stick when being ridden vigorously.

The cum tube is a tube in the middle of the toy attached to a syringe through which water-based (cum) lube (like the one from Bad Dragon) can be shot, simulation an ejaculation. Since the last review the spilt opinion of my testee panel has not changed: Some loved the feeling of a liquid splashing inside their colon. For some testees and me, it didn’t do much. And since the cum tube makes the toys more difficult to clean, I went without the cum tube.

When wanting to venture into the realm of more textured toys, the Terra is probably a good starting point. With the gently tapered glans the Terra is quite easy to take. Two gently risen scales allow for some sphincter stimulation until the diameter increases for the knot. The ridge at the back of the knot is a bit rugged but not too extreme. Since there is only one textures area at a specific height level (either both sides or the back) slow teasing play is interesting with this dildo because different areas of the sphincter get stimulated at different depth levels.

I would consider the Nova a toy for the more experienced ass players. The glans is a bit duller than the Terra’s and its rim is equipped with dull bumps so it is a bit more of a challenge. The shaft is textured with three deep ridges with a steep slope at the rim. They make the Nova an equally interesting and challenging toy for fucking: Taking it is somewhat easy because the ridges gently open the hole up. The steep slopes however really challenge the sphincter when pulling the Nova out. Running down from below the glans’ frenulum all down to the base is a ribbon is rather highly raised bumps. Three testees of mine had the perfect anatomy for these bumps running over their prostate, driving them insane when getting fucked with the toy.

The Scorn is unlike the two previous toys. The most noticeable difference is that the base is perpendicular to the head. Also, the dildos is short and thick. The glans takes up approximately a quarter of the entire length and steeply increases in diameter. Below the glans the diameter increase again quickly making this a toy for more experienced power player. Adding to this categorization is the texturing: From the frenulum down to the base run deep ridges, the rest of the shaft is textured with veins and bumps. Since the toy is curved almost a quarter of a circle, taking it takes some navigation and practice even for depth experienced fistees. Because the L is already rather large and you can get it in the firmest silicone, this toy will produce the most “stuffed” feeling and the texture is felt the most intense of all the Bad Dragon toys I own.

The Dr. Sado Silicone Sounds

Construction

The sounds are made out of black high quality silicone. They are very flexible, quite soft and have a smooth surface without a seam you sometimes see on silicone anal toys for example. Their front is a bit tapered for easy insertion. At the end there is a cube shaped appendix which keep the sound from slipping in all the way and make controlling the toy a little bit more easy even with lubey fingers. The total lengths of the sounds are 350mm and are available in diameters from 3.5mm to 11.5mm. The larger the diameter the larger the cube at the end so the insertable length decreases a bit with raising diameter.

These sounds are perfect for intense sounding scenes. The length in combination with slightly squishy material allows playing with parts of the urethra a metal sound could never reach. The friction and stretching sensation deeper inside than any metal sound can reach alone is interesting enough for experienced sounders. Since the silicone sounds are a little bit more ridged and through the cube at the end more easily controllable than a catheter tube they are good toys to prepare a novice for this kind of play. Once deep inside the sounds are long and flexible enough to play with the bladder’s sphincter and once penetrated with the inner side of the prostate. Since a sterile environment is paramount when fisting (see last paragraph) I would not recommend stimulating the prostate on both sides with a sound and a finger up the ass at the same time. Despite being made out of super smooth silicone the surface is still a bit “dull” and will never be as smooth as metal so I recommend using more lube than usually.

For choosing the right sound size two things should be considered: A too thin sound will be “spikey” and a little bit more difficult to insert; a too thick one won’t fit because the urethra has not been pre-stretched far enough. I have gotten three sounds with the diameter of 4.5mm, 5.5mm and 7.5mm which cover the most common diameters for sounding.

I would not recommend these sounds for beginners, especially when sounding on your one instead of getting sounded. When having lubey fingers through their length they are a bit hard to handle at times. Since they are light and a bit soft they have to be pushed in actively, requiring the sub to know the difference between a “good” and a “bad” stretching pain. For beginners I recommend stainless steel sounds. Simply put them into the tip of the dick until the first sphincter and let the weight of the sound do the work of gradually sinking in.

One of the most important things when it comes to sounding is sterilization. Failing to play with sterile toys and lube and in an unclean environment can lead to nasty infections! Since these sounds are made out of silicone flaming them is not an option. To be absolutely after using them, wash them carefully with dish soap and then put them into boiling water for 10 minutes. Store them carefully apart from each other and not touching other toys in a clean environment to prevent plasticizers from harming the silicone. Right before I recommend cleaning them again. Silicone attracts dust as almost nothing else and dust doesn’t belong in a urethra! After washing them just with water and drying them, they should be sprayed with a skin-friendly sanitizer and wipe it off afterwards using a paper towel. For inserting them into a urethra use sterile lube. Friends of mine have been very satisfied with Meo’s VERYDEEP sterile lube. However since I am overly cautious, I do not trust sterile lube once opened, so for every scene I use a new sachet of sterile lube you can buy in pharmacies. I would only recommend using water-based lube and thus relube regularly during a long scene. Silicone lube will break down the material of the silicone sounds. Furthermore the ingredients of medical water-based lube are designed to be absorbed and processed by the human body so after some time there will be no lube left in the urethra unlike silicone lube which can linger than until everything has been pissed out.

The ball is made out of a hard silicone and has a diameter of 48mm. It is connected to the leather straps through two solid tubes which have a diameter of 13mm and a length of 23mm. They end in two rectangular pieces which are riveted onto the leather straps. They are made out of high-quality bridle leather and have burnished and dyed edges. Through a roller buckle the length can be adjusted between 45cm and 60cm.

Through the reviewing process of gags I found two types of gag users which I like to call bounds and biters. The bounds enjoy the feeling of something solid in their mouth. They want the feeling of their mouth being in bondage and thus a too soft material isn’t doing the trick. Biters on the other hand have a more practical approach: They enjoy the functional value of a gag (like silencing or drooling) but when they want to sink their teeth into something that gives in. This gag is definitely for the bounds, keeping the mouth open.

Through its size the ball encourages a lot of drooling. Since the rather thin, small tubes sit in the corners of the mouth rather than a leather strap like on other ball gags, this gag is very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The diameter is on the larger end of the ball gag spectrum so especially for people with a smaller mouth having the ball gag put into their mouth is a bit of “stress” bondage. The strap is unusually long for a gag so it fits even subs with a large head or with a thick, open mouth hood fettered onto the head.

Since the ball is made out of silicone it is easy to clean and disinfect which is necessary between scenes because it will be exposed to large amounts of saliva. After play simply wipe the ball dry and spray it with your favorite sanitizer. Don’t forget to wash the ball afterwards to clean off sanitizer residue; it is something you do not want in your sub’s mouth.

Adjustable Rim Chair

The Meo Adjustable Rim Chair

Construction

The basic structure of this rim seat is a horse shoe shaped hot zinc dipped steel tube with 38mm diameter.  On both sides about 100mm behind the opening 175mm long handles with 32mm diameter are welded which are covered with a vinyl cover for better grip. Behind each grip a tube facing outward is welded. On its end there is a spring pushbutton. Using this button the legs which are put onto this tube can be adjusted to three heights: 410mm (550mm clearance between the legs), 380mm and 515mm clearance and 350mm with 495mm clearance. When you push the legs up all the way the height is 330mm with 460mm clearance. But since the spring pushbuttons are not holding the legs they can move. The legs are T-shaped and the ends are covered in conic shaped rubber covers which create a secure stand and keep the legs from scratching the floor.

For a comfortable seat for even extended periods of time a black horse shoe shaped toilet seat with a 10cm opening is mounted onto the ring. The seat can be tipped up.

When the legs are taken off, the rim chair becomes very compact for easy storage and for travelling.

First things first: Is this a good rim chair? Yes, it is. It has a sturdy and ergonomic build so the tops sits securely and comfortable. The grips make it easy to sit down and get up. The three height settings and clearance between the legs allow even for a slim bondage board to be put between them. All pieces are easy to clean so even when the play gets nasty the rim seat shines again quickly.

When used alone the comfortable position and ass accessibility makes this rim chair ideal furniture for anal self play. The sphincter is relaxed even when reaching down to stuff the butt so putting toys up the ass is more easily and pleasurable. Beyond that this rim seat even has a practical use: When setup in a shower or bath tub a bottom can sit down on it for a comfortable cleaning up. Through the comfortable sitting position the colon relaxes and cleaning out is more easily. There is a chance of water entering the legs through the height adjustment holes. So after cleaning out the legs should be taken off and emptied.

The rim chair even works as a compact and basic piece of bondage furniture. Wrist and ankle restraints can be attached to the legs. The most effective bondage layout is fettering the thighs to the grips using Velcro restraints. The Mr S Shoulder to Wrist Restraints

Construction

The first element of this three-part bondage toy is a 32mm wide latigo leather strap which runs over the neck and around the shoulders. It is closed by a roller buckle and can be locked through a post. There is also a D-ring next to the roller buckle. The strap’s length can be adjusted between 110cm to 140cm which is long enough for beefy subs; the buckle’s pin has to be in the third hole for the last hole to fit over the locking post. For fettering an extremly beefy body builder meat machine Mr S can certainly make a custom strap which is longer but neither my testees nor me ever found the strap too short respectively too long for skinny subs.

On this strap runs a 380mm long and 53mm wide latigo leather strap. Between 45mm to 225mm measured from the bottom 12 holes are punched into it. For an even tighter bondage experience I had 6 holes added so the restraint can be pulled up even higher.

These holes are used to attach the 53mm wide latigo leather back strap using a roller buckle with a locking pin. Below the roller buckle there are two wrist restraints riveted onto the strap. They are closed with locking roller buckles.

The possible usage scenario is determined by how much the shoulder and the back strap are tightened. If both straps are not too strict this restraint can be used for self-bondage. It takes some time and practice to get the wrists fettered and undone again. But the latter struggle is part of the self-bondage experience. If you should fail to undo them there is enough slack to cut the back strap with a safety scissor in a case of emergency. If both straps are tightened in a medium intensity (elbow forms a right angle) the restraints can be worn comfortably and safely for an extensive period of time. This makes the Shoulder to Wrist Restraints the ideal piece of bondage gear for social settings like a bar night. The sub is bound into a presentable position yet he is able to move around to follow his top while the bondage is comfortable enough to be kept on for an entire nights.  In the tightest configuration on tall guys it becomes impossible to open the wrist restraints even when they are not locked.

Almost regardless of the tightness the Shoulder to Wrist Restraints create an interesting bondage experience. Especially in the looser configurations the bondage feeling of the wrist restraints quickly fade away. So when the sub wants to act naturally because he forgot about the restraints he will quickly be reined back. A big advantage of the Shoulder to Wrist Restraints is the effective bondage in combination with great accessibility: With the arms bound behind the back nipples and the junk can easily be played with and his torso is exposed for (gut) punching; once bend forward for a spanking the ass cheeks are exposed and the sub can’t raise himself again so he is at the top’s mercy.

To intensify the bondage experience I recommend attaching a shackle to the strap of the lower wrist restraint between the two rivets. Onto this new anchor point ankle restraints can be added – either with chains to create a prison setup to limit the sub’s ability to run or just with carabiners to keep him kneeling. For a more painful sensation connect the wrist restraints to a ball stretcher with a D-ring or – even more evil – a parachute with spikes. If pain is induced and he tries to work it out with whatever limited movements he has in his arms he will tug on his balls.

The Doxy Die Cast House in its Case

Construction

The head is conically shaped and has a diameter of 61mm and length of 74mm. It is covered by a medical grade silicone cover. A 25mm long shaft connects the head with the body which is made out of a die cast aluminum-titanium alloy which comes in classic black, purple, red, white and silver. There is even a 24k gold plated version. The surface is highly polished for a smooth and lush finish. The body is 240mm long and tapers from 48mm to 22mm with a little bulge just below the end for a comfortable and secure grip. In the lower half of the body there are three soft-touch buttons for power, increasing and decreasing speed. At the bottom there is a 3m long power cord attached which ends in a power supply unit. Its plug can be exchanged with an easy yet secure mechanism. You can purchase fitting adapters which is handy when travelling abroad with the Doxy. The Die Cast comes in a handy carrying case which makes is perfect for keeping the wand from bouncing around in a suitcase when travelling. Due to being made out of metal the Doxy Die Cast weighs 680g without the power supply.

The Doxy has two setting: Just pressing the power button will turn the vibrations on and the intensity is adjusted by pressing the plus and minus buttons. If you press the power button for three seconds the pulse setting is activated. The vibrations than escalate from the lowest to the highest intensity for which the speed is controlled with the plus and minus buttons.

The original version of this wand delivers the same powerful vibrations but comes without the case and is made out of slightly different materials. The body is made out of a high-quality polymer and the head is covered with smooth, medical-grade PVC. Due to the different materials it is a bit lighter, weighing 480g.

Playing with the Doxy

First things first: The Doxy is the most powerful massager out there. I compared it to the original Hitachi Magic Wand and found the Doxy’s vibrations stronger and going deeper. On paper the Doxy “only” manages between 3.000 and 9.000 rpm. Other, less expensive massagers can go higher, up to 18.000 rpm. But this is not what counts but the power delivered. And on this matter the Doxy absolutely shines.

The most often used purpose of a massager is obviously edging and milking. Depending on the effect either focus on the glans, especially the frenulum (for milking), or the shaft, the balls and especially when you are edging with your hand the perineum. On the glans the different speed settings do not really matter. Even the lowest setting will push most uncut guys over the edge pretty soon. On the other body parts finding the right setting can mean the difference between “I’m going to cum.” and “PLEASE! Let me FINALLY get released!” If you want to use lube for better edging I recommend not too slick water-based lube. I use Swiss Navy for it. Using silicone lube will disintegrate the head cover!

For milking head attachments are great. The Doxy’s head is slightly larger than the 57mm diameter most other massager have. So putting on attachments is a bit more difficult. However through the conical shape of the head the fit very well and are actually more secured when it comes to heavy stroking than on other wands.

Beyond CBT the massager is good for intensifying existing toys. Most toys – like clamps or ball stretchers – lose their sensation infliction potential after some time because the nerves get numb. So adding a bit of vibration there can wake the nerves up. Since unlike other wands the Doxy’s head cover is stiff so you don’t have to take it off; all the vibrations’ power get transmitted directly. Due to the high power the Doxy works well with ass toys. Depending on the effect either try it on firm ones like the metal plugs from E-Stim for the intense, almost shattering vibrations. Softer ones like from Square Peg will make the hole buzz. Depending on the shape and position of the toy the vibrations get transmitted onto the prostate which drives most bottoms nuts in a good way. If the bottom has a well trained hole you can even put the head into the sphincter but be careful to not let the hole swallow the entire head!

Through its power the Doxy finally delivers on the “massage” promises of its name. The strong vibrations can give a real deep tissue/ muscle massage and help relax tense muscles. Thus one testee actually uses the Doxy for post-scene therapy. He hands it to his sub after a long flogging to help dealing with his muscle stress or uses it to bring back live into a sub’s limbs after stress bondage. Doxy’s founder once said in an interview that the wand can be used to clear the sinuses by putting it onto the forehead. I tried it and it worked decently. However due to the strong vibrations I am not sure if I would recommend doing it because I fear it could cause concussions.

The Pegger Extractor has the typical shape of a butt plug with a roughly egg shaped head and a large base which keeps it from involuntarily getting sucked up into the ass. I am reviewing the size L which I have bought in firm black. The head is 115mm long and has a “core” diameter of 75mm. All around the head there are ridges increasing the maximum diameter up to 88mm. The ridges are round and thin so depending on the material firmness they more or less easily give in when being pushed in. The neck is 45mm long and has a minimal diameter of 52mm. The base of the toy is pentagonal which makes it great to grip even with lubey fingers.

Due to its ridges this is not a toy to start out your play with even when you are an experienced ass pig. I recommend pre-stretching up to at least 80mm diameter (I prefer a size L Acron for this) for the size large. Even when pre-stretched well taking the Extractor is still a (hot) challenge. The ridges stimulate the nerve endings of the sphincter while the added friction of their shape enhance the stretching sensation. With the supersoft silicone taking it up the ass feels like a gentle, flapping massage. With the hard silicone it is an intense, yet horny struggle so I recommend this material for the more masochistic ass pigs. However if you approach it carefully and slowly let the sphincter adjust to the unusual shape it will eventually open up to be fucked with the Pegger Extractor. If you do this often the ridges of the Pegger will facilitate the blooming of a rosebud.

There is a ring of ridges just above the neck. This perpendicular edge works like plug which seals the sphincter and keeps the plugs from being pushed out easily. Despite the heavy texture the Pegger Extractor is quite comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. However pulling it out after some time, the sphincter will not be tender anymore and the lube having flown off the head which makes it a challenging task.

When choosing the size please consider the heavy texture. Even when you can take an 88mm diameter plug the Pegger Extractor will still be a challenge. Since the ridges are perpendicular even well lubed up they will hinder smooth insertion. If you have problems relaxing the irritation caused by the ridges will make the sphincter tense up quickly. So it I recommend to choose a smaller size if you want to engage into aggressive play like fucking with the Pegger Extractor.

The Carbon Fiber Pain Stick’s basis is a 39cm long carbon rod with a diameter of 2.7mm. Unlike most other carbon fiber rods it is a solid one with a deburred tip. The former minimizes the risk of breaking or splintering, the latter prevents it from causing involuntary cuts. The lower 10.5cm of the rod is covered in isolating rubber with vinyl tips on both sides. Through the bottom tip runs one a nylon string loop.

Carbon is a mean material for an impact toy: Lightweight, stiff, yet flexible. So the blows delivered by it are very stingy making the Pain Stick a delightfully devilish toy which needs to be handled delicately. Just a light tapping on the same spot can cause irritating pain, several blows will leave a welt. Because of that this is a great toy for mindfuck-scenes: The top doesn’t induce much force yet the sensation felt can be intense. The small size makes it an ideal for lightweight toy bags when going out to a bar or for precise targeting. But always keep in mind that this toys isn’t made for warming up the skin so adjust the ramping of the scene accordingly.

Another method of using the Pain Stick is pulling the tip back and flick it. This will induce extremely stingy pain which intensity depends on how far you pull it back and if only the tip or the entire rods hits the sub’s body. When you pull back the rod far enough blows can even be felt through thick leather! On bare skin bruises and welts are likely to occur. Since a lot of force is transmitted this way the target areas should be chosen carefully: On thin skinned body areas like the glans the skin will most likely break, delicate body areas like the balls serious bruises or injuries of the spermatic cord can lead to a visit of the ER.

Carbon is a conducting material. So if the bite of the stick itself isn’t agonizing enough, it can be connected to an e-stim power box using a pole connection clamp. Since the e-stim sensation should be felt at the impact point, I recommend using a mass-rich counter pole. When playing on the ass or using the Pain Stick for CBT a metal anal electrode is the best option but a conductive rubber loop around the balls or base of the dick also works. For hitting the nipples a pad electrode attached next to the nipple is the safest option.

Since using this toy extensively on a sub can lead to contamination through sweat, interstitial fluid and blood, proper disinfection is important. Luckily carbon is a very low maintenance material in that regards. Simply wash off the residue with warm soap water, let it dry and spray a sanitizer on it. As robust and flexible carbon is, it sadly can break or splinter. So after ever scene, inspect the rod if it is still perfectly smooth. If not, replace it with a new one. The injuries cause by breaking or splintered carbon fiber are very serious and hard to treat.

Conclusion:  Small delightfully devilish toy with huge pain potential.

Construction

The hood is made out of a single layer of soft European sourced leather. There is thick padding covered with soft leather from behind the ears to the nasal bridge covering both half of the face. From the part all the way down there is lacing to close the hood tightly. To fetter the hood even tighter around the head there are four belts with roller buckles running through riveted leather loops: One around the neck, one over the mouth, one over the eyes and one running from the chin over the back of the head. At the middle of the collar, at the top of the hood and one on each cheek there is a welded D-ring. At the bottom of the nose there are two grommets to allow easy breathing.

The hood is one size fits all. Even though my head is average size the leather strap to lace the hood is too short but it was easily replaced with a longer one. Despite the leather being soft through the sturdy and thus stiff belts and thick padding the hood is rather stiff. In order to mould the hood to the sub’s head and make it soft and comfortable it takes a couple of hours. The body heat and sweat will do the rest.

With the lacing and the belts the hood can really be fettered heavily onto the head. Despite the little amount of light which bleeds through the nose grommets once you start lacing you quickly feel the world around you being blocked out. So some people who are not used to such intense bondage start to panic right away. In this case I recommend only using the belts to slowly accustom them to the sensation. But once you get used to it, being put into the hood becomes an intriguing part of the scene itself. While the soft, high quality leather is getting wrapped tighter around the head it emits a rich smell. So there is a feeling of being immersed in leather.

Like all isolation hood it doesn’t take away all the senses. But the padding muffles the sounds (to block out even more use earplugs) and creates the right amount of pressure. Not uncomfortable or putting pressure on the eyes but noticeable enough to create a strong bondage sensation. This in combination with the lack of sight creates a feeling of detachment from the surrounding. For a full immersion the hood needs to be made soft like described above. When the leather is still a bit stiff there can be light coming through the nose grommets. But once the hood becomes a little bit more flexible the padding over the eyes shuts the light out.

The loss of sight and heaving with the warmth and pressure sensation can lead to disorientation of subs. So I recommend not fettering them standing up without having something to hold onto respectively being tied to something. Especially when lying down the D-rings can be used to tie the head down completely. When doing so the top D-ring should be the one tied the strongest so that sub doesn’t suffocate when struggling.

The Fetters Heavy Leather Hogtie Set

The Heavy Leather Hogtie Set consists of a pair of modified Fetters Padded Leather Thigh Restraint, a pair of Padded Locking Wrist Cuffs and an Elbow Strap. All pieces are made out of high quality leather, thick soft padding and stainless steel trim. The set comes without pad locks. If you want to lock the restrains the shackle diameter of the pad lock should not be larger than 3mm.

The core of this set is a modified version of the Fetters Padded Leather Thigh Restraints. As all restraints from their padded & lockable range are basically made the same way: An 8cm wide cushion of thick padding covered with soft leather is sewn onto a wide strap of bridle leather. Onto this a belt with a roller buckle and a locking post is riveted. Usually each restraint is equipped with two welded D-rings.

The lowest circumference the thigh restraint can be adjusted to is 42cm; the largest is 71.5cm with a padding gap of 11.5cm; largest circumference with padding all around the thigh is 54cm and the largest circumference and still being able to lock is 67cm with a padding gap of 7cm. Next to the locking post there is a welded D-ring. 15cm away from the D-ring a Padded Locking Ankle Cuff (which I reviewed here) is riveted with its two D-rings being perpendicular to the rivet. Since only one rivet is used the cuff can turn to allow for different bondage positions. Another difference to their standard Padded Thigh restraint is that they have replaced the second D-ring with a stainless steel loop which has a width of 38mm and a height of 8mm. Through this loop the belt of the Padded Locking Wrist cuffs (which I reviewed here) can be threaded to attach the wrist restraint to the thigh one.

For an even stronger bondage experience an elbow strap comes with the set. The basis of it is a 13.5cm long and 8cm wide octagonal piece of two bridle leather layers which are sewn together. In the middle there are two roller buckles with a locking post riveted onto the body.  In front of each buckle a slot is punched through which a leather belt with unburnished sides is threaded. This belt is 118cm long and 3cm wide. It features 7 holes on one side and 29 holes on the other side which allows for fine adjustment.

To put these restraints on it is best when the sub lies face down so the top can easily move the limbs to put them into the corresponding cuffs. Each buckle is far away enough from the wrist restraints to prevent the sub from opening the roller buckles. If you want to be extra sure each restraint is lockable which adds a lot of mental bondage sensation. Once fettered you can choose between four different bondage positions: The traditional lying face down, lying face up, kneeling or sitting on the ass. Since sitting up requires a lot of muscle strength this position is a bit of stress bondage. Lying face up is equally stress bondage but great for CBT or an extreme form of gut punching – even with low intensity punches. The thigh restraints quickly became popular with a top friend of mine in kneeling position. He used them in combination with the Handlock (which I reviewed here) to restrain the hands above the head with the thigh-ankle-combination effectively preventing the sub from standing up.

Minimum and Maximum Diameter of the Thigh Restraint

The most traditional position is obviously lying with the face down. In this bondage layout mouth and ass are still accessible but (if the top is strong ort the sub light) you can still move the sub around. Besides face fucking most testees used the hogtie for impact play. With the ass exposed (and if you are not fettering gymnasts the feet unable to cover the ass) and the restraints covering the sensitive area of the upper thigh this layout is great for spanking. Especially if you want to administer bastinado I recommend locking both ankle restraints together using a small shackle. This will effectively limit the movement even more. When you want to create a stress bondage position add a head harness or a muzzle and connect the top D-ring to the shackle. In this layout I would not recommend inducing too much pain because heavy movement can lead to neck or spinal injuries. Of cause this layout can be used for lighter play like sensation play or – if you are not afraid to get lube on the leather – fisting.

I am a bit hesitant to recommend using the elbow strap. It is a great piece of bondage gear which can increase the sense of being bound quite a lot – also in other bondage layouts. But the construction is killing it for me. With the edges being unburnished, at best they are just sharp and uncomfortable. But if the sub moves a lot it can cause abrasions. In order to make this part of the toy useful I am actually considering having movable padding custom made like on the thighs on the suspension harness.

Besides hogties this set can be used in many different other bondage layouts. If the added ankle cuffs don’t bother you the thigh restraint can be used to fetter down upper legs. To attach thicker rope or carabineers to the metal loop, simply use a shackle to add a larger anchor point. When the sub doesn’t have to small hands the ankle cuffs can be used to restrain wrists to the thighs. However this does only work if the bondage layout is either standing up or lying with the ankles also fettered. Otherwise there is a chance the sub can simply slip off the thigh restraint. On testee even used the restraint for pup play: He gave his puppy knee and elbow pads, connected the ankles to the thighs and the wrist to the collar and thus forced his sub in an even more dog-like position. However I do not recommend this form of stress bondage for extended periods of time since especially the elbows are not made to support such weight.
