Vendor: Weredog

This review was heavily requested in multiple ways. It has been over four years that I have reviewed a toy from Weredog and the company has come a long way ever since. Being based in the UK, they are a little bit more approachable than the big US makers for Europeans – at least in pre-Brexit times. So there is great interest in their toys. More generally, a lot of stretch fans are looking for the pop of knots without having to train the second sphincter. While only Dagger is marketed specifically as a plug by Weredog, in my opinion both fall into this category. So, before next Friday the prices will fall for Black Friday, let’s see how these two knotty fellows perform.

Construction

Weredog’s Duster & Dagger both in XL with their Silicone Cane for Size Comparison

For the fear of sounding like a broken record – there are always new people finding this website, so welcome! – all Weredog toys are being made out of platinum silicone. It is the best material for anal toys for three reasons:

  1. Safety: Platinum silicone is 100% body safe. Unlike other materials like rubber of vinyl, it does not emit plasticizers. Its surface is super smooth making it difficult for bacteria to linger.
  2. Handling: Cleaning and sanitizing is easy. Once a toy has been used, throw it into hot or warm soap water, let is soak for a bit, rub with a soft brush or cloth, rinse and spray a sanitizer on it. This makes silicone toy perfect group situation when you want to pass toys from one player to another. The smooth surface also makes taking the toy easier because there is less friction. One drawback has the material: Silicone toys should not be used with silicone lube! The silicone oil inside the lube will first make the surface sticky and then over time disintegrates the toy. So stick to water- or oil-based lubes if you want long term gliding.
  3. Manufacturing: To clear up a myth, high quality silicone toys are not easy to make. On a large scale, especially complex shaped and colored toys are way more difficult to mass manufacture than vinyl or rubber toys. But, silicone is the material which can recreate the finest details and takes on color the easiest. Because of this, it is the best material to turn horny fantasies into realities. Finally, silicone offers the greatest range of possible firmnesses. Currently, the trend for anal toys leans towards soft toys which Weredog follows. Their extra-soft is Shore 00-20 which is really squishy but be careful with creases. Soft equals Shore 00-30, a bit softer than the popular Topped Toys toy and still squishy / flexible. Their medium makes a big jump to Shore 00-50 which is firmer than Bad Dragon’s medium firmness which would convert to Shore 00-45. Finding the right firmness can be a bit tricky, especially when you are new to buying toys. For these toys, the choice is simple: Dagger is only cast in extra-soft and for ergonomic reasons I would recommend the same for Duster if you are not depth-savvy. One drawback of soft silicone is, that is attracts dust very easily – as you can see in my pictures. Washed the toys an hour before taking these pics and well… you see the result.

Duster’s Massive Dull Knot

Both toys come in sizes from Small to XXL. While Dagger starts out at an almost sensible 12.9cm knot circumference – especially considering the material softness, Duster means business at 16.51cm circumference. Dagger taps out at an already big 32.5cm cirmcumference at 26.9cm usable length, Duster reaches an enourmous 37,5cm circ at the same length but 22.6cm head circumference. And here lies the potential ergonomic issue I was referring to when talking about the softness. While Dagger and to some extend Duster are designed to focus the stretch only on the anus, their length of course scales with the diameter. In super-soft this issue is somewhat mitigated by bending and filling the rectum instead of going deeper. But you have to be aware that you at least need capacity training for your rectum if you want to take these big boys. If you buy Duster in soft or even medium, he will bust you second hole open!

Playing with Duster & Dagger

While we are on the topic, let’s start with Duster. His gland is clearly inspired by canine penises but taken to the extremes. The sometimes protruding urethras has been drawn out to a dull cone sitting on top of a plateau split in there sections. The “shaft” has two section. First it is textured with on top and on the sides with wide slightly bulging strains. On the bottoms runs a shallow smooth strain which could be called a ventral groove. The second, shorter part is a straight resting point before the  main event: The knot.

Duster’s Dull Glans and Pre-Knot Shaft

Three massive bulges covering almost the entire shaft except a small ventral groove at the bottom massively extend the diameter! Their tops are flat for maximum knotting experience. With a shaft to knot ratio from over 1:2, Duster has one of the largest diameter increase I have ever felt. The bulges are almost circular so the knotting is intense. Once the apex has been reached, the knot gets sucked into the rectum – if there is enough space next to the shaft. The knot is very slightly textured with shallow veins. But to be frank, they are an optic feature but unnoticeable which is good. Added friction would make this toys almost impossible to take.

Small anatomic technicality: On Weredogs website Duster is marketed as a anthro dog so I guess some design liberties are ok. But from my limited animal knowledge, Duster is more of a fox with three knot bulges. If you like maximum stretch or look for a yiffy experience, go for Dagger. If you look for a really dogging, buy one of the many toys which only has two knot spheres.

Below the knot is a short shaft for resting your strained hole. The base is round, a bit larger than then maximum diameter of the knot and slightly textured with fur texture. A nice detail is a gold colored piercing ring molded into the base. Sadly, Weredog does not suction cups for their toys.

The Golden Piercing in Duster’s Round Base

This makes Duster a bit hard to judge. On the one hand, it is a great toy for experienced players who look for the extreme. The urethra is only for aiming and anchoring the toy, not for opening up the anus. This body part needs to be pre-stretched to open up for the literally flat glans, especially when you buy the toy in a extra-soft. Otherwise instead of forcing the anus open, the toy will be pressed flat. Being loose and open is also the motto for the knot. The pre-knot on the upper shaft part does little for preparing and opening up. Duster’s knot is one of the most extreme I know. The spheres bulge so far outwards, their their apex way outside the shaft. So your anus is fighting an up-curvature battle when opening up. Once the squishy knot pops through the sphincter you are FULL! The addition of the humongous knot to the already mass-rich shaft creates an almost unique volume. Deknotting is an equally intense sensation. The fullness and intense stretch triggers the pushing out reflex intensely so it happens more quickly and maybe a bit more uncontrolled as some might want to. Once the knot (and most likely the shaft) is expelled, there is a sudden and intense feeling of emptiness which is a harsh contrast to the way you felt a few minutes before. Some bottoms are overwhelmed by this, some NEED to be filled again.

Dagger’s Softer Glans

But unleashing the potential without a suction cup is a bit difficult. Especially when playing with the large amount of lubes such a big toy demands, the base easily slides away. This is really an issue when you try to take the knot and adjust your posture to find the position of least resistance. When deknotting, it happened more than once that the bottom unintentionally shot the toy through the playroom. For partner play to base offers too little points where to hold it securely, especially with lubey hands. Twisting it to find that sweet spot of entrance and pressure is almost impossible. Especially the larger Dusters would really benefit from a vac-u-lock hole or at least a suction cup.

Dagger is a different story and truly a plug with all the features – just with a K9 twist. The top is again inspired by a dog’s glans with a pointy tip and dullish plateau. All the lines are flowing and rounded, far from Duster’s almost brutal design. The glans rim is a slight bulge running around the top. Considering the softness of the material, you really have to focus to notice it.

The Knot and Ventral Groove of Dagger

The slightly bulging shaft is smooth except a shallow and rounded ventral groove. After about half the insertable length the knot bulges out of the shaft. It is formed by two slightly elongated half spheres smoothly flowing out of the shaft. While Duster wants to create maximal resistance between the knot and the sphincter, Dagger somewhat tries to seduce the sphincter to open up. But it cannot hide that it is a sudden and steep increase in diameter so you will definitively notice it compared to a smooth plug. The way of least resistance is to push the knot in perpendicular to the ass. For maximum deknotting experience, twist it inside the bottom’s ass and pull it out. Like on every butt plug the is a long neck which smoothly flows into the base. The base is short and wide, yet it fits perfectly between the ass cheeks.

Like Duster, the length scaling with width will inevitably make Dagger a bit of a depth toy when knotting the larger versions. The shaft bends easily so if you have a bit of rectum volume experience that should not be an issue. You also do not feel as full as with Duster’s big volume. Surprisingly, my testees found Dagger quite comfortable to wear over extended periods of time. Due to the ergonomics you will not manage almost days like with classical stretching plugs but longer than with other space filling toys like the SP Acorn.

The Relatively Thin and Small Base of Dagger

For high intensity play, the base is not ideal. Compared to other plugs, it is thin and due to being super-soft extremely floppy, making it hard to grab, pull out and even push because it is hard to exert force precisely, especially with lubey hands. (Vigorous) knot fucking is almost impossible because it is so hard to grab the base. I would had wished for upwards bent fins at the end (like on an SP Egg, Organotoy Sit-Plug or Friendy Toys Snuckle) and most of all, the option for a split-firmness. Just getting the base in Shore 00-50 would drastically improve ergonomics.

Where to buy?

While Weredog has some retailers in the UK, the best way to order a customizable toy is through the manufacturer’s website. Especially with Duster, be sure you get the right firmness and not one the store’s purchases selected for you. Also, with orders from the website, you can get gorgeous limited edition colorations like the sky metro camouflage on my Dagger.

Weredog’s Rutt & Skylar

In last year’s anal toy special I already reviewed Weredog’s Gage and liked it a lot. But the toys I am getting the most reader questions about are actually the Rutt followed by the Skylar. So let’s take a look at these toys.

Construction

To put it short, Rutt is a stylized version of a canine dick. Typical for this kind of dong, the glans is dullish with a little tip at the bottom. The shaft above the knot bulges a bit. The knot itself has three bulges instead the two a realistic one would have. Below the knot there is a short shaft before a hinted pocket and two balls form the base.

Skylar’s Softly Tapering Glans

The Skylar is quite different. His glans is softly tapering and features a shallow glans rim just like a human glans. The long shaft is concave but the top’s curvature is lower than the bottom’s. This way the shaft bulges in the middle. The bottom is textured with six scale-like ridges while the lower half of the top features increasingly deeper bumps. The body sits on a big light textured base.

All of Weredogs toys are made out of high quality platinum silicone meaning they are easy to clean and hypo-allergenic. It comes on 24 colors, 22 standard ones and two Glow in the Dark shades (green and blue) which adds 10% to the base price. Under daylight they look off-white but once it gets dark they have the brightest and longest glow of all Glow in the Dark toys I have seen so far! For 10€ you can add a second color either as a marble (as my two toys are), swirl and split base. Weredog also offers a Surprise Me option for 19.48€ but only do that if you are very adventurous! I have tried that option several times with several manufacturers and was unimpressed. If you invest such a large sum of money into your dream anal toy, at least make it right the way you want it.

Rutt & Skylar Glowing in the Dark

Firmness-wise Weredog is on the softer side of the spectrum. Their soft is Shore 00-37, the medium Shore 00-41 and the firm Shore 00-45. The Shore 00 scale and the Shore A-scale which for example Bad Dragon uses are hard to compare but the Bad Dragon medium firmness is about as firm as Weredog’s firm. While Weredog like all major companies offers sample discs to try out the firmness at home, I am not the biggest fan of them. The larger a toy, the firmer it feels and the less flexible it will be. So choose the firmness with a grain of salt. What you don’t have to chose because it comes standard with every toy is a nifty storage bag.

Playing with the Skylar & Rutt

As already written, both toys are hard to compare. Counter intuitively the Skylar is actually a good trainings and pre-stretching toy – at least in soft or medium firmness. The long, tapering glans opens up the sphincter(s) softly for an easy entry without much pre-stretch. Despite the thick shaft, inside the rectum it is bendy enough to find its way towards the second sphincter and thus train your hole for depth play. Meanwhile the scales gently massage the first (an depending on the size second!) sphincter for added stimulation. Due to the strong curvature it is almost impossible to get prostate stimulation out of the scales. For this, the bumps on the top are good yet they are so shallow

Skylar’s Ridges

If you buy Skylar in firm, he becomes a toy for the experienced. The ridges feel so much more intense, a testee called my firm XL a “horny cheese grater”. Using quite some force, Skylar’s tip can twist. But this too little for gentle training. He will rearrange your guts! So a welcoming second sphincter and slow insertion is paramount when playing with a larger firm Skylar. Once he is in and you really need it hard, it is a great toy to unleash upon your hole to really trash it!

Rutt’s Dull Glans

Rutt in any case requires training and pre-stretching! This starts with the dullish glans which forces the sphincter open instead of slowly opening it up. The barrel-like shaft is untextured but since the diameter in the middle is 34% larger than the glans a bit of a stretch. From the glans runs a small ventral groove that can add stimulation when twisted inside the hole.

Though if the shaft and ventral groove excites you, you are not nearly prepared for what comes next! Compare to other K9 inspired dildos, Rutt’s knot top is quite dull. So if your hole is not loose enough, it will not get in! The knotting is made even more intense but the third bulge on top of the shaft! All in all, the shaft-knot-ratio is an insane 1:2 which made the Rutt the favorite for knot fucking among some of my testees.

Rutt’s Three Buldges Knot

A great feat of Rutt is that his shaft is relatively short. This means even not so depth-savvy size queens can enjoy the Rutt. Speaking of size-queens, a drop of bitterness is the sizing range on Rutt: While the large one is a bit small for experienced players, the XL is so much larger than I know only few who can take him. A size between those would be great!

Where to buy?

You can buy all Weredog toys at their website where you can customize them. The Skylar starts at 75€, the Rutt at 85€.

Weredog Gage

There Weredog Gage XL in Signature Color

Vendor: Regulation

When Weredog entered the anthropomorphic dildo scene roughly two years ago, I immediately got dozens of questions about their material and manufacturing quality. Because of that, I am glad that thanks to Regulation I am able to be reviewing one of their most requested toys in this series.

Update May 7th 2021: When I published this review about ¾ of a year ago, I was kind of torn what to think about this toy: I like the shape and design but the soft firmness ruined it for me. Now I have gotten a signature colored XL Gage in firm which addresses this issue. So I am revisiting and updating this review.

Construction

The Gage starts with a dulish, almost human like glans. Around the rim there is a thick and wide ridge, almost like on the SquarePeg Acorn. The shaft below has an overall oval shaped and is two-parted. On the upper, slightly barrel-shaped two-thirds texture it king. On front there is a cluster of four three-parted scales while on the back a network of on big horizontal and two smaller vertical veins add a little stimulation. The shaft’s lower third is an enormous smooth knot. At the bottom the knot’s two semi-spheres taper towards a tiny neck which again flows into wide and sturdy base.

Left a Weredog Gage in Medium Firmness tipping over, right one on Firm standing up

If you choose the toy in any firmness but firm, the size of the neck becomes a problem since it is too thin to support the massive shaft. I have several toys that cannot stand upright on its own (for example Bad Dragon’s Elden) but a soft or medium firmness Gage is an extreme case! The neck is so thin and bendy that riding the toy is a challenge! My testees and I had to focus on “controlling” the shaft when riding that it took away part of enjoying the texture. Luckily my firm Gage fixed this issue. It stands upright on its own and doesn’t break out when riding it. At Shore 00-45 the firm version is about as firm as a Bad Dragon medium so the texture is not too scruffy. But of course the knotting in firm is hefty. The base is lightly textured with small ridges and mimics the look of a huge ball sack giving the toy a secure stand.

Note: I am doing this review based on the XL which I measured. All other numbers in this table are based on a quotient between my toy’s length and the length on the website, assuming that the sizes scale proportionately.

Size Overall Length Insertable Length Glans Rim Mid Shaft Above Knot Knot Neck
S 170mm 147mm 32x29mm 50x36mm 40x27mm 42x48mm 31x28mm
M 213mm 180mm 41x36mm 62x45mm 50x34mm 53x60mm 39x36mm
L 271mm 231mm 52x46mm 79x57mm 64x44mm 68x77mm 50x45mm
XL 330mm 285mm 63x56mm 96x69mm 78x53mm 82x93mm 61x55mm

Detail of Gage’s Voluminous Knot

The Gage like all Weredog toys is made out of pure platinum silicone. This has a couple of advantages: Being super-smooth it is not only easy to insert but bacteria have a hard time lingering on it. Furthermore it is easy to clean: Just use soap water, give it a good brush to get the lube off, let the toy dry, spray some sanitizer on it and you are got to go. Though two words of warning: Only use water- or oil-based lubes on silicone toys. The silicone oil in silicone lube will disintegrate the silicone and destroy the toy over the long run. Also, silicone does not play well with other plasticizers. So store it separately. Luckily, the toy comes with a nifty black storage cotton bag that offers some level of protection. Weredog uses a silicone with a velvet-like surface. The makes the silicone slightly sticky to lube does stay in place more easily. The disadvantage is that it easily attracts dust. For the pictures in this review is washed the Gage and dried it with a high end microfiber cloth. In the process of taking the pictures, I could watch the toy getting more and more dusty…

Detail of Gage’s Scales

All Weredog toys at used to come Regulation come in “Jet” colour which is an interesting shade of black, almost a very dark anthracite and medium firmness. Now they come in the signature color which means for Gage a blue tip that fades and dribbles to black while the base is snow white. It is an interesting look that especially comes to live under UV or blue playroom lighting. Firmness wise they are split: They have a firm base (Shore 00-45) and a medium (Shore 00-41) body which mean Weredog leans to the softer end of the firmness spectrum. To give you a comparison example with a popular and widely used toy: The knot has roughly the same diameter of a large SquarePeg Acorn. In SuperSoft the Acorn feels firmer than Gage’s medium firmness knot.

Playing with Gage

Detail of the Glans with the Thick Glans Rim Bulge

The clever and complex design of Gage make it a treat for everybody interested in high intensity anal play. To be honest, it is a toy more for the experienced player because the dull tip takes some pre-stretched and already loose sphincter to let Gage in. But once the glans penetrates the anus, the FFun begin.

The first highlight is the bulge around the glans rim. It is very voluminous and thick so it is perfect for triggering the stretch sensation of the many nerve endings inside the anus. With a bit of training and taking the glans reverse you can even target the prostate.

Though the real means for prostate stimulation (and in one [locked] case of testee panel member prostate milking…) on Gage are the scales. Their relatively steep ridges are not as intense as they might look at a first glance due to the material being quite soft. The flow of rise and drop when riding the shaft creates an intense massage sensation both at the anus and the prostate. Two testeee panel members created a “sport” to find the right amount of lube and speed to get to a friction sweet spot. Riding the barrel-shaped upper two-thirds of the shaft stretches and makes the hole nicely loose.

Detail of the Thick Veins

This looseness is absolutely necessary because the knot sits perfectly perpendicular towards the rest of the shaft. Yes, the two semi-spheres of it are somewhat guiding the sphincter to open up. But still, the massive size, the stretch being perpendicular towards the anus’ ergonomics and the steep slopes will be a challenge, taking the hole’s stretch to the max. And once the knot pops in, it locks in place due to the thin neck. Adding to this effect are the knot’s shallower slopes at the bottom that intensify the stretch when taking it out. All things considered, taking Gage’s knot is one of the more intense, probably also extreme experience in toy play. But also very rewarding and literally fulfilling. The knot’s pressure on the prostate was intense enough to make one testeee have an anal orgasm. Though one word of caution when playing with the XL: When knotting it, you should be depth-savy a bit because depending on your body taking the entire toy will in most cases cause the glans to knock on your second hole.

Like most complex anal toys, a different level of fun is reached when playing with a top who manually controls Gage. Through the oval profile, once he starts twisting the toy, a new level of stretch is reached and the textures become more even intense!

Detail of the Thick Base & Too Thin Neck

When playing on your own, the Gage is a bit of a diva that needs special handling. The neck between the huge and heavy body and the large base is quite thin so the toy tips over in soft and medium firmness. So for the initial popping in, hold the shaft, push the glans through your anus and let the fun begin. Once inside, you can still vigorously ride the dildo but with soft and medium firmness ones it takes some practice to control the flopping around neck and thus tumbling shaft! The base is large and thick enough to keep the toy from moving.

So all things considered, Gage even in the small size is probably not the right toy to start your anal adventures out with. But if your hole is a little bit pre-stretched already or you can even easily take a fist, it is a perfect toy to reach new stimulation heights through texture and stretch.

Where to buy?

You can get the Gage at Regulation for prices between £70 and £155, depending on the size. They all come in Jet black and medium firmness. But you can contact the Regulation customer service for custom orders.
