The MyStim Tension Lover

The MyStim Tension Lover

When I introduced the Tension Lover as a desiderate in the e-stim special a lot of you were interested to know more about this inexpensive box. So I got in touch with MyStim and they luckily provided me with a review sample. If you are interested in what you get when you buy this toy please take a look at the unboxing of the Tension Lover I posted earlier this year.

Construction

The Tension Lover is made out of sturdy black plastic. It measures 127mm x 70mm x 27mm. On the back of the box there is a convenient belt clip.

On top of the bock there are two magenta colored dials through which you control the individual intensity of the two channels. Next to the dials the 2.65mm jacks of the channels are located. The upper third of the front is taken up by the display. On the left is shows which program is selected. In The middle you see from top to bottom which channel is active, the timer time, the width of the waves and the frequency. Below the display is a sliding hatch which covers the buttons. With the upper left you can switch between the seven different programs by going through them. The one below sets the timer in 10 minutes steps up to 60 minutes. The other two buttons are there to control the width and the frequency of the waves.

Detail of the Battery Compartment

Detail of the Battery Compartment

The Tension Lover runs on 9v block batteries. You can easily exchange it but pulling the sliding hatch down.

The toy comes along with two leads comes in a nice box with storage space for a battery and some additional toys. You can choose if you want it with self adhesive pad electrodes or silicones ones which I reviewed here. It even comes with a battery so you can start playing right away.

Playing with it

Playing with this box is like any other box: You choose a pair of electrodes, connect both poles onto one channel. Then you select one of the seven possible programs and see when your sub starts feeling the sensation. From there you can start playing and taking him further into the great sensation has to offer. During the test my testees and I agreed that generally speaking the sensations coming out of this box are a bit more on the stingy side. That is not a bad thing, just to something to keep in mind when planning a scene.

Program Name Induced Sensation
Burst Creates bursts of 7 to 10 short impulses.
Normal Continuous impulses that you can freely manipulate.
Modulated Continuous changing of intensity in a corridor around your selected intensity so that the nerves don’t stop recognizing the stimulation.
Modulated Impulse Frequency The frequency continuously drops until 50% of the selected one and then rises again creating a wavelike pattern.
Modulated Impulse Frequency and Width The frequency and width of the impulse changes reverse. So when the frequency falls the width rises and vice versa.
Intensity and Frequency Changes In a 6 second long cycle the intensity falls by 20% while the frequency rises by 45% and then returns to normal.
Intensity and Width Changes In a 6 second cycle the intensity falls to 20% and the width rises by 54%.

From a beginner’s perspecitve my view on this box is a bit ambivalent. It offers great value for money so it is a good starting point in the entire e-stim cosmos. The 7 programs offer enough presets for most situations even though they are not so sophisticated as the programs on Erostek boxes. Of cause you can compensate that a bit when you start to manipulate the programs by adjusting the width and frequency of the waves. But this takes a bit of trying out and really getting to know your box and electrodes (which you should do in any case before you expose someone to the stimulation!). Since this is a start box the same program and the manipulations run on both channels. However you can control the intensity individually. Especially when trying to milk someone getting the same stimulation at both areas in my experience has been helpful. Another good thing for beginners is the manual. It explains the general way and especially this box works very well. With a bit of reading and practice you soon be able to master this box.

From a more elaborate player’s perspective I can unconditionally recommend getting this box. It costs less than most electrodes so it has a place in every estim play chest. What sets it apart and above every other even more sophisticated box I have played with so far is the ability to provide continuous stimulations without any fuzz. This is extremely useful when playing with electrodes like a pin wheel or a whisker which intention is not to create a changing sensation at one place but a continuous sensation when travelling over the body. Another great feature is the timer. Once set it will automatically stop the stimulation once the time runs out. I have found that a very useful feature in tunnel scenes where the sub agrees to a time of stimulation and then you leave him well bound and rendered blind alone (but still in hearing range!). I have gotten some priceless reactions from subs when the stimulation without any action of the top. Of cause the timer in combination with the through the belt clip implicated mobility offers countless possibilities of deviant play. The sliding hatch closes very firmly so it doesn’t accidently opens up when walking around which makes accidently chances of the program impossible. It is also a good way of keeping the in mitts fettered hands of a sub from changing anything.

Detail of the Dials for Intensity Control and the Jacks for the two Channels

Detail of the Dials for Intensity Control and the Jacks for the two Channels

There is also a third perspective that should not be forgotten: MyStim is the erotic department of a company making TENS units for medical purposes the box can also be used for TENS purposes. With a bit of exercise you learn how to place pad electrodes and which stimulation you need to create pain and tension relief. Especially after suspension bondage and impact play scene the box became quite popular with subs and tops of mine.

A thing you have to take into consideration when planning on buying this box is a design decisions that I could not quite understand: As already written MyStim is a department of a company that makes TENS units for medical purposes and maybe in that field 2.65mm jacks onto 2mm pin are common. But due to being the professional laboratory standard I personally consider 3.5mm audio plug onto 4mm banana plug the gold standard in estim. This isn’t a big problem when you use surface electrode because you can easily use adapters. However when you start using insertables that rely on 4mm banana plugs (like great ones from E-Stim System) you need to build your own connectors because there are not 4mm angle plugs onto 2mm pin jack out there. If you are getting a MyStim Tension lover I would strongly recommend getting yourself two MyStim plug onto 3.5mm audio jack adapters and use 3.5mm audio plug onto 4mm banana plug cables.

Conslusion: Inexpensive and powerful multiple adjustable box with a few design problems.

Oxballs Jolt & Volt

The Oxballs Jolt

The Oxballs Jolt

Earlier this week I reviewed the Oxballs Zap and liked it a lot for its smooth sensation and versatility. However at its original purpose – an e-stim ball stretcher – it had a bit of a problem getting full score because it was difficult to put on. Luckily the perverts at Oxballs came up with something.
A couple of month ago Oxballs introduced a new electrifiable ball stretcher: The Jolt. While it is still made out if the medical grade platinum silicone it is not as high yet a bit larger than the Zap so it is probably easier to put on as a ball stretcher. The Jolt uses the same electrodes so the stimulation will be as smooth as with the Zap.

The Oxballs Volt

The Oxballs Volt

If you are still concerned that the stretcher might be too tight for your big balls or want to apply electrodes to other areas of the body take a look at the Oxballs Volt. It is basically an electrode that can be put onto your favorite Oxballs toy to turn it into an e-stim toy.
The Jolt costs $49 as a monopole with one electrode and $59 as a bi-pole with two electrodes so you don’t need another electrode to create a sensation.
The Volt is sold as individual electrodes together with a Sprocket cockring for $30.

The Oxball Zap

The Oxball Zap

Construction

Unlike most Oxballs ballstretcher the Zap has an oval shape. It is 25mm wide and 38mm long with a height of 33mm. The material is 8mm thick so in combination with the compact shape it is a quite sturdy ball stretcher. On each long side there is a reinforced hole through which you can put the electrodes. They are made out of aircraft grade aluminum and have a conductive area with a diameter of 19mm. The rough mushroom shape helps keeping them in place. You can order them with either one or two electrode and 2mm pin or 4mm banana plug jacket.

Unlike most Oxballs toys this stretcher is not made out of FlexTPR but medical grade silicone.

_DSC0563-2Playing with it

This material choice is a curse and a blessing. It is firmer than the “usual” FlexTPR so the stretcher is a little bit stronger yet it is soft enough to be worn comfortable even just as a stretcher without e-stim. But the firmer material and small internal diameter makes it a bit hard and tricky to put the stretcher on – regardless if your ball are large (than the small diameter is a challenge) or if they are small (where you will struggle with firmness). This also makes putting the stretcher onto a bound sub a bit difficult.

So much about the criticism. I really LOVE that toy! The firmness becomes a huge advantage when it comes to e-stim. Regardless if the balls are large or small, meaty or skinny the electrodes make skin contact for a good and reliable stimulation. For a ball stretcher the electrodes have a pleasantly large mass and contact area so the stimulation can range from a smooth, tantalizing sizzle to excruciating pain. This especially works well when you get the stretcher with two electrodes so you can really fry your balls. The form of the stretcher makes it perfect for another form of CBT: Milking. The “traditionally” of e-stim milking it putting a conductive silicone loop around the glans. However with this method the stimulated area can’t be targeted precisely. But with the Zap’s electrode you can precisely target the frenulum for an intense stimulation of the most sensitive area of the dick. Luckily putting it on the dick is quite easy so it is my way to go if the stretcher won’t fit around the balls. Apart from using the electrode in the stretcher for CBT the mushroom shape makes them easy to grip so they can be used as a skin electrode. Simply apply some conductive lube and let them travel over your subs body. For doing so, please put something isolating around your fingers like rubber gloves so you don’t accidently let currency flow through your body.

Detail of the Aluminum Pole

Detail of the Aluminum Pole

As nearly every Oxballs toy this toy is easy to care for: After having used it throw it into hot water with a bit of detergent or in a club simply spray a disinfection solution on it. Oxballs says on their website that you can use any form of lube with it. However I don’t trust silicone based lube with this toy because theoretically the silicone oil in it will disintegrate the stretcher. But to be honest I haven’t tried it out. Because water-based lube will also improve conductivity of the electrodes I would recommend sticking to that kind of lube.

Finally a piece of advice when purchasing this toy: Usually I would recommend getting the electrodes with the jacket that fits your e-stim system. However in this case I would in any case recommend going for the 4mm banana plug jacket (unlike I did…). The stretcher sits between the thighs which is a rather confined space which is the perfect scenario for a right-angle plug. However there are no 2mm pin right angle plugs out there (if you know where to get one, please send me an e-mail) but there are 4mm banana right-angle plugs. So if you have a 2mm pin e-stim box, get yourself an adapter with a right angle, it makes your life and play with this toy so much easier.

Conslusion: Versatile e-stim ball stretcher once you have managed to put it on.

Detail of the Conductive Area and Strap

Detail of the Conductive Area and Strap

This review is about a basic e-stim toy nearly every major manufacturer carries. The one I have gotten were give aways with every electro box Mr S sold. Sadly they have stopped doing it and are not selling this particular toy anymore. So when reading this review please keep in mind that the actual measurements of different versions of this toy may vary! The way it works and the construction are all the same.

Construction

The main part of this toy is a rectangular plastic body. The bottom is made out of stainless steel for better conduction. On the one side of the top is a knob onto which the low profile lead is attached. The female side of this plug is made for 4mm bananan plug. The other side is a clasp through which the strap runs. It is made out of an elastic fiber and is approx. 17cm long and 2cm wide. The inside is made out of a conductive fabric.

Detail of the Clasp and Connection Knob

Detail of the Clasp and Connection Knob

Playing with it

The operation of this toy is quite easy: Simply put it onto the desired body area, make sure that the heart doesn’t lie between the strap and the other pole and tighten the strap so that it is fastened securely. They basically fulfill the same purpose as the conductive silicone loops I reviewed some weeks ago. Yet they have some important differences. The most notable is the handling difference: The edges of the toy is not conductive so you can theoretically place both straps next to each other without short circuiting your box. When turning up the power please be a bit more careful than with these loops. Despite the larger contact area and the fact that the conducting area is pressed onto the body the higher conductivity (at least when I compare my straps to my loops) leads to a stronger effect which is a bit more stingy. You can take away a bit of the sting by using conductive lube or soaking the bands in salt water before play. Through this property they are useful when your sub has maxed your box with the conductive loops. From experience I would say that these straps give you another 30% more sensitivity but as always with e-stim this can vary depending on the sub and his physical condition. I also tend to use them when the sub is not restrained tightly and moves a lot and/ or has a small dick which might cause conducting silicone loops to fall off. Due to these loops being kind of stiff the elasticity of the cock straps helps when you want to attach electro to rough body areas.

Playroom Essentials: E-Stim Cables

This article shall give you an overview over the most common cables used in e-stim and what you might need them for. The first part of the article deals with the basic stuff that you need to connect your power box to electrodes from various different manufacturers. The second part shows some solutions for more elaborate forms of play.

While you can get most of the things from this article from the manufacturers of e-stim power boxes and toys or stores like Regulation or Mr S but you can also look at stores selling electronic components. Most of the time they are a little bit cheaper.

If you want to learn more about e-stim in general I have published a previous article on that topic. If you just want to know which e-stim box uses which connection standard read this article.

Basic Equipment

Left: 2.5mm jack onto 2mm pin lead
Right: 3,5mm jack onto 4mm banana plug lead

Leads

They are the most essential cables you will need for electro play because they are used to connect your power box with the electrodes. They have a jack at the one end and a set of plugs at the other end. Usually there is a pair of plugs at the end, but there are also cables for more elaborate set-ups out there with four plugs. Depending on which system you are using they are combinations of 3.5mm jack and 4mm banana plug or 2.5mm jack and 2mm pin plug.

You can find so called “adapter” cables out there which mix 3.5mm jack with 2mm pin for example. They might sound handy but I would strongly dehort from using them! When you have different systems which mix all the different plugs and jacks I would identify the “major” system and use adapters (see below) instead of different leads. It will safe you a lot of money and space because adapters are lighter and more inexpensive than buying new adapter leads.

From left to right: 2mm pin onto 4mm banan plug adapter, 3.5mm jack onto 2.5mm jack adapter, 4mm banana plug onto 2mm pin adapter

Adapters

Adapters are nifty little units which you can put onto jacks or plugs in order to change their form factor, for example turn a 4mm banana plug into a 2mm pin plug. They are used to incorporate toys from a different connection standard into your play set up or in order to save money and space on special leads when you have mixed standards in you power box outputs.

Advanced Play

Tri-Phase Cables

A special form of leads are so call tri-phase cables. They either come as special cables or as an adapter to connect two leads. High-end e-stim boxes like the E-Stim 2b or the ErosTek 312b have special programs which enables you to create three spot of sensations for which you need these kind of cables.

Detail of Measurement Line Plug-Jack-Unit

Detail of Measurement Line Plug-Jack-Unit

Measurement Lines

This kind of cables is a pervertable from laboratories. They are basically two sets 4mm banana-jacket-plug-combinations connected by a cable that comes lengths of 25cm, 50cm and 100cm. You can use them to daisy chain multiple electrodes or use one electrode with different power boxes. The effects using measurement lines are hard to explain and the play is for the more experienced e-stim player so I recommend you play around with yourself a little bit before you put elaborate constructions onto your sub.

Detail of a Audio Extension Cable

Detail of a Audio Extension Cable

Extension Cables

The play space or even electrode layout can require you to place the electro box farther away than your leads are long. In this case you can use extension cords to deal with the problem. They come in two varieties: The first are jack cables used in audio installations and come in a variety of length. Some systems like Mystim don’t use 3.5mm or 2.5mm jackets are output jackets or sometimes only one pole is quite far away. In this case you need extension leads. They are cables with a matching jacket and a plug of the connection system you use.

Left: Isolated Pole Connetion Clamp
Right: Unisolated Pole Connection Clamp

Pole connector clamps

Sometimes you want to incorporate metal toys like ball stretcher, cockrings or metal plugs into your electro play that were not made for e-stim. In order to connect them to your box you need pole connector clamps. They come in either isolated or not isolated varieties. Being another pervertable from laboratories they only come with 3.5mm jackets.

What they are not made for are to be put on different nipples! This kind of play is dangerous and potentially lethal!

Barrel of Silver Covered Copper Wire

Barrel of Silver Covered Copper Wire

Silver Coated Cooper Wire

A challenge to incorporate the metal toys mentioned about is finding a space to place the pole connector clamps. To overcome this challenge wrap silver coated cooper wire securely around a metal part of the toy you want to use as an electrode and attach the clamp to the wire. The wire can also be used as an electrode by wrapping it around different body parts or let it travel over the sub’s body. But please keep in mind: With little contact area and little resistance even little intensity levels can have agonizing effects. So you can employ this wire as a substitute to conductive silicone loops if a sub maxes your box with them.

Unboxing: Mystim Tension Lover

Unboxings are one of the most common article forms on tech sites. So it is kind of ironic (and keeping the packaging of other toys in mind natural) that I somehow only do unboxings for electronic toys in this case the Tension Lover from Mystim.

Mystim sent me this E-Stim box earlier this week for testing purposes following the desiderate I published earlier. So I am already excited about using this box and see if it can live up to the things customer reviews promise. But before after extensive testing I am going to write a review in a couple of weeks let’s see what’s in the box.

The toys comes in a nice and sturdy black plastic case. It measures 26x21x5,5cm and can be shut be two magenta colored plastic sliders which securely lock the lid.

_DSC0035-2

The inside of the box is lined with hard grey foam. On the right there is a section for the Tension Lover and a 9v block battery. This takes up about a third of the space so there is enough space to store additional electrodes alongside the power box.

_DSC0036-2

_DSC0037-2_DSC0038-2The power box itself is made out of black plastic and measures approx. 13x7x2,7cm. It lies good in the hand and with the big display and the sliding cover over the control buttons it feels a bit like an old cell phone (yes, I am THAT old).

On the top are two dials to control the intensity and a socket for each of the two channels. Also in the picture you can see the belt clip on the back.

_DSC0040-2

The box comes with two leads, one for each channel. The end in 2mm pin plugs so you need adapters if you want to use them with p.e. toys from E-Stim.

_DSC0041-2The next item out of the box is the quite informative manual that not only explains how the box works but also gives a good beginner’s intro into E-Stim. A nice bonus is the chapter on how you can use the box for pain therapy.

_DSC0043-2The Tension Lover can be ordered in two versions: The one which I have gotten with sticky pad electrodes for 139.90€ or one with the silicone pad electrodes that I have already reviewed here for 149.90€. It is a nice touch that they already provide simple yet versatile electrodes so you are ready to play right out of the box.

_DSC0044-2In order to do so Mystim also put a 9v block battery into the case so you can start playing right away.

_DSC0046-2As already written: With basic electrodes provided, a good, informative manual and an easy to use power box I think the Mystim Tension Lover is a good beginner’s electrode box from the first look. Now I can’t wait to try it out. If you live around Hamburg/ Germany and would like to become a testee – either top or bottom – send me an e-mail.

E-Stim Electro Whisker

electrowhiskLike every year for Folsom Europe this website went a bit quiet and will be back next week with the final stretch of the e-stim special. However during Folsom Europe I had the chance to try out a wonderful devious and delicate toy I want to introduce as a desiderate: The E-Stim Electro Whisker from Regulation.

It is a whisker made out of thin conduction stainless steel rods that packed into an isolated shaft. On top of the shaft is a 4mm banana jacket for connection to your power box. This toy is quite devilish: Because the rods are quite flexible you can vary the contact area very rapidly. So the sensation can momentarily change from a mild tingle to a hellish sting. The toy costs £40 directly at E-stim or £53.99 at Regulation. I had so much fun with it as a top and a sub, I can’t wait to add it to my collection!

Mr S Electrified World’s Most Comfortable Butt Plug

Vendor: Mr S

The Mr S Electrified World's Most Comfortable Butt Plug Size Large

The Mr S Electrified World’s Most Comfortable Butt Plug Size Large

This is one of the few instances where I review a toy that I do not own and have been lent for extensive testing. I have used the large version of this toy multiple times as a top and had it used on me. Additionally I have talked to people who have owned it for many years so I believe I have a quite educated opinion about it despite now owning it yet.

Construction

As the name of the toy says this is an e-stim version of Mr S’ extremely popular World’s Most Comfortable Butt Plug. The large version that I could test myself had an 89mm long polished stainless steel head with a diameter of 44mm. The first quarter of the head is a dull cone which turns into a barrel of which the last fifth is again shaped like a dull-ended cone. The neck of the plug is an approx. 5cm long silicone covered flexible metal rope. The base is again made out of polished stainless steel and has a diameter of approx. 50mm. Onto the bottom of the base an approx. 1m long cord with a 3.5mm jacket is already soldered. Due to being made out of stainless steel the toy weights 396g including the cord.

There are two smaller versions out there: The Small with a head diameter of 3.2cm and weight of 226g and the medium with 3.8cm diameter and a weight of 312g.

Detail of the Flexible Neck

Detail of the Flexible Neck

Playing with the toy

Once inserted and plugged into your electro box this plug due to the surface size and large mass delivers a smooth yet intense sensation. Due to the thin and flexible neck I found this toy quite comfortable to wear for long-term sessions. Because the sphincter can nearly fully close despite the heavy weight I never feared that the massive head would fall out of my ass or that the base would be sucked into it. But you still feel the massive piece of heavy steel in your bowel which is quite a turn on. Due to the connection between base and head being flexible it can’t sadly be influenced where head rests so a controlled prostate stimulation is very difficult to achieve.

I have to be honest: When I first held this toy in my hands I was not sure about the soldered cord. When you sit on the plug it bends quite a lot so after long usage I would expect a lead fracture. This would be especially annoying because since the lead is soldered onto the base you can’t just exchange the cable but have to solder it again. However I have talked to people who have been owning this toy for many years and never experienced a lead fracture so I guess even with this design Mr S stays true to their high quality standards. Where the soldered lead becomes a problem is when you want to dive into more elaborate electro play, strictly speaking when you want to work with tri-phase programs. The ErosTek ET312b and the E-Stim 2b can create a “virtual” third stimulation point through tri-phase cables or adapter. In order to do so you take a pole of two channels and connect it to a third electrode. Since you plug the Electrified World’s Most Comfortable Butt Plug directly into the box you can’t pick off a pole. The same problems comes up when you want to integrate it into a pole daisy chain using laboratory leads or use it as a heavy mass monopole. You can substitute this by using a one-jacket-two-plug-cable but will still end up with a bi-pole on one end.

Detail of the Soldered On Lead

Detail of the Soldered On Lead

When choosing the right size of this toy I advise you to be a bit conservative. Being made out of stainless steel the material won’t give in so if you just can take the maximum diameter with a vinyl toy choose a smaller size. Due to the flexible connection between head and base you can’t or should not push and pull the head in holding onto the base. So the head should go in with some ease.

For this toy the same rule regarding lube applies than to the conductive silicone toys I have reviewed earlier: Do not use silicone based lube because it will destroy the coating of the neck and will work as an isolator.

Don’t get me wrong: It is a good electro plug, excellent at delivering an e-stim sensation. But when you are a perfectionist like I am who wants an indestructible toy that leaves you with all the possibilities you can theoretically have, I would recommend to look elsewhere.

Conslusion: Good bipolar E-Stim Plug with slight Handling Shortcomings.

Mystim Tension Lover

The Mystim Tension Lover with the Case and its Contenct

The Mystim Tension Lover with the Case and its Contenct

A couple of weeks ago I answered to your request for a novice electro box with writing a bit about the E-Stim Intro Packs. Yet I got some requests if there isn’t a box out there with two channels that isn’t too expensive and indeed there is: The Mystim Tension Lover.

It is a fairly basic yet sophisticated box. It is digital with a large display so you can adjust the programs quite accurately. There are only 7 programs and no audio interface but for a first dip into e-stim pleasures (or pain) it is quite enough. It also has a timer function if you want to leave your sub alone. A nifty feature is the locking of the keys of you want to walk around during the stimulation.

Since I was always looking for a another compact digital electro I am very much looking forward to owning this box some day and would love to review it! The box comes in a nice case with two leads and four pad electrodes and costs £119.99 and can be ordered from Uberkinky.
